What competition does it have in the US? S2000, Solstice GXP/Saturn Sky, Boxster, what else? Surely, it will slaughter them all, but still.

Lotus Exige S coming to America

Quote :
"Lotus today announced its 2007 Exige S coupe will be offered in the U.S. market, despite previous claims to the contrary. The British automaker calls the car the "quickest Lotus production car" ever made. It weighs just 935 kg (2057 lbs) and is powered by a 218 horsepower high-revving supercharged engine, giving a zero to 100 km/h time of just 4.3 seconds (0 – 60 mph in 4.1 seconds). Fuel economy is expected somewhere between 25 and 30 mpg. The 148 mph car will be available for $56,990."

Why are you claiming all those except the Boxter are competition when the price tag means they clearly aren't.

Don't be a moron.

well, i am looking at competition performance-wise, not cost-wise.

sure, the others are cheaper, but that's because they are not european.

for example, the G35 competes performance-wise with the BMW 330i (now the 335i), but is much cheaper.

but cost-wise, with the 325i, which it will slaughter handily.

that car has no competition

there is nothing else that is really comparable to it in the least. If you're in the market for an Exige-S, probably the only other things you're looking at are the Elise and the Exige.

I just hope they'll offer the hot engine in the regular Elise...I don't need an Exige--a run of the mill Elise is hardcore enough for me (especially as a daily driver, and especially since I'd have to have a second car--or more likely, truck).

dude

there is no other vehicle that's really comparable to it.

it's not like "I can't decide between the G35 and the 3-series...or the Mustang or Camaro...or the Miata or Solstice". it's pretty much it's own class.
