I'm looking for one of those air purifiers that ionizes and creates ozone (O3), I've heard they work the best. Anyone got one laying around they don't use? Size doesn't really matter, even if it's one of those little bathroom models...'preciate it 9/30/2006 2:05:40 PM |

1. They dont work. They are marked up about 1,000% over production cost.

ionic breeze and other ozone generators are great, if you want to bubble the ozone through water at a waste treatment plant. It kills shit, including your cells. It also CAUSES Asthma attacks, and can make you sick as hell. Buy a decent air purifier if you want one, jsut accept that you will have to buy filters. If ionic shit worked, the fanless bs that it is, then medical labs and drug plants would be usign that not disosable hepa filters. 10/1/2006 12:32:33 PM |

build one yourself. just get a flyback and run some HV accross two large aluminum plates. house it in plastic. done. enjoy your ozone.10/1/2006 12:38:55 PM |

^ good call....it doesn't need to be some fancy sharper image thing, just something that creates ozone. i'll look up online and see how much it'd cost me to throw one together. just in case though i'm still looking for offers 10/1/2006 5:46:45 PM |

i was as descriptive as you need, sir.
the flyback in any tv/computer moniter can be wired into two cardboard pieces that have been wrapped w/ alluminum foil. the high voltage will ionize air and produce lots of o3. just find someone selling a cheap CRT moniter for ~20. google what the flyback looks like so you know where your high voltage is. it will work. though this is very very dangerous and you could kill yourself.

I think the newer Sharper Image air purifiers include an ozone to oxygen convertor, elminating the ozone problems. 10/1/2006 11:37:49 PM |

1. You want to make ozonated water or oil perhaps for the falsly reported health benefits. 2. You are trying to synthesize TATP at home without using industrial strength peroxide. (Dont kill yourself man) 3. You want to generate ozone in an enclosed environment to slowly corrode the potting epoxy that covers a delicate circuit board so that you can solder / modify / fix the board. 4. You are brewing your own beer at home and want to use ozonated brewing water to increase the alcohol content. 5. You want to put it in your fridge to control the growth of bacteria and mold. 6. You want to sterilize an air duct that cannot be reached with disenfectants. 7. Your kitchen stinks because your roomates never take out the trash and put cigarette butts in the disposal.
