There will be trophies given away for first through third place in each division. First place trophies are approximately 3.5 to 4 feet tall. It would make a nice addition to any trophy case! 10/2/2006 12:18:27 AM |

they aren't able to put their greek letters just anywhere (such as a t-shirt) - so instead the word fiji is commonly used10/3/2006 3:15:34 PM |

The cause is good, and I hope things turn out well. I've heard mostly good things about FIJI, so I'm glad they can lead the charge for a charity.
However, I also think blood drives aren't all there are. I'm not too fond about the policy of the Cross not to take gay blood, and not offering any exceptions even for people who test clean, but that’s not what I really want to get into here.
It seems like everyone knows about blood donation, and that they could go to a hospital any time to donate. I would like to see more engines for charity raise awareness for other lower profile charities.
I'm really not saying this blood drive is a bad thing, I really think it should happen, and I hope I'm not interpreted any other way. I just also think that having two different fraternities advertising, on the front page of tdub, blood drives with the Cross on the same day (oct 20) on different sides of the same campus (Alpha Phi Alpha & Phi Gamma Delta) is a little over kill & that the resources could be used for a greater varieity of charities, or atleast not having so much over lap if they are going to do the same charity. 10/15/2006 6:53:27 PM |

Learn how the greek letter Phi is supposed to be pronounced and it will make sense.
Phi => Fee However, it seems that everyone says Ph-eye. I'm told it's a southern thing.10/15/2006 8:02:14 PM |

I agree with you when you say that blood drives are not the only thing there are. Thats why the proceeds of our dodgeball tournament go to the Triangle Chapter of the American Red Cross as a whole. Blood Services are only one part of the Red Cross; they serve the community in many capacities, such as in case of emergencies, opening shelters, giving out food, helping emergency volunteers etc. They also help families that may lose their homes due to fires, families whos loved ones may be over seas, and even teach children the proper way to wash their hands.
We are not having a blood drive on Oct. 20th, but a tournament where students can form a team and come play some dodgeball. For more info, check on the link in some posts above. Hope to see you all out there! 10/15/2006 11:07:19 PM |
