Quote : | "The Garner Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual Firemen’s Day Celebration on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Garner Fire Station #1 at the corner of Hwy 50 and Main St. Barbecue plates including pork barbecue, boiled potatoes, cole slaw, and hushpuppies for a cost of $6.00 will be served between 11:00 AM and 7:30 PM. There will also be a Chuckwagon set up serving hot dogs, french fries, and soft drinks during the same hours. Games for the children begin around 12:00 PM. Fire trucks will be on display for most of the afternoon.
A parade complete with fire, EMS and rescue vehicles, floats, bands, marching units, and much more will begin at 2:00 PM and will start at Hwy 50 and Garner Road, travel east on Garner Road, turn right on New Rand Road and turn right to continue on Main Street. Everyone is invited to participate free of charge. Contact Amy at 772-1550 for parade entry information.
Entertainment will be provided by Holiday band coming on stage around 4:00 PM.
To culminate the day’s events, a raffle will be held around 8:00 PM for a 2006 Ford Ranger XLT truck, plus over $3,000 in cash prizes. Tickets are on sale now for $5.00 and may be obtained from any Garner Firefighter or any Garner Fire Station.
