A good gameplan by Trestman really. Keep the defense off balance. The thing is I don't think we have the line or the QB to be that flexible. Here's hoping the D steps up in a big way!

Special teams is the oldest cliche in the book. They don't win you games (unless you are VT) but they can lose you games. That said, the offensive gameplan and execution is much more important then special teams in this game..

We have no offense and our defense isnt very good.

We're going to need a lot more than special teams to even have a chance in this game.

We have to hope they play like shit and that we make some huge plays.

We have to hope they commit a lot of sloppy penalties.

We have to hope they miss field goals and fumble snaps.

We have to hope their CB's fall down and we catch long passes.

I mean tonight has the potential to get REALLY ugly. We're lucky the weather is so bad maybe it'll make the game really low scoring and we can hang around and come up with 1-2 big plays to win.

against BC we scored 2 TD's and made a field goal
they scored 2 TD's and made a field goal but missed an extra point and were scared to try a field goal late

special teams are huge

we need a blocked kick to win tonite

We have a monster RB who can make plays in the open field.

We dont have an o-line that can establish the run.

We dont have WR's that give anyone matchup problems.

We dont have a QB with a dangerous arm.

We dont have a QB that can see over the defense.

We dont have an oline that can pass protect.

We'll be lucky to get 200 yards on offense tonight.

Their offense isnt good either so hopefully our defense will play their ass off and keep us in the game and maybe we make a big play or two to score some points.

I'm not saying they aren't. You do what you're supposed to do and you put yourselves in position to win. By and large they only lose you games.

Against Florida St. I think the offensive gameplan is far more important. As is winning the turnover battle.

RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, PLAY ACTION, RUN, RUN, RUN, PLAY ACTION.....repeat as necessary.

control the clock, don't make jackass mistakes/decisions (players and coach), play the field position game, and don't fall down by an ass load (if we fall behind by more than a TD or so it's over).

Oh yea, a loud ass stadium would help too.

We should be alright if we just play a couple of our pennants. I'm thinking the 1st and 15, cuffed, and butter fingers should probably do the trick.

Exactly. And if we are going to run the toss sweep 800 bazillion times like we did in the BC game, throw in some kind of trick play and pass it back to the other side of the field (ie halfback pass to QB on opposite side) or at least something to keep the defense on their heels.

It's also the most underrated aspect of football in the book. To say special teams can "only lose" games and not win them makes no sense at all. As long as we don't turn it over and, Deraney's punts pay off, our offense isn't going to get us in too much trouble.

My keys to the game:

The big boys in the trenches. If our O-Line can protect Evans and open up the run game a bit, we have a shot.

Our O-line vs. their D-Line is the key to the game.

That's putting it in an optimistic perspective.

The way to phrase it is "hold them to fewer points than we have."

lets see if we can find something with a 51% coorelation with winning before we label it as crucial

hopefully our DBs will not give up play after play and hopefully Evans doesnt throw interceptions, because if he does, it is over....oh, also, fumbles......

I am thinking the same shit will happen, and we loose by 20
