PCA will group you. If you are unhappy with were you land you can discuss it with your instructor but remember that managing traffic as an "overtaking" car is just as important as one being overtaken.

I still have 2 of my Kumho R comps... At the moment I have 6x8.5 inch wheels, and 2x7.5 inch wheels. 4 of the 8.5 wheels have R comps, and the staggered set has my street tires on them. I need to try another alignment, throw some more brakes/shocks on the car, do a few track events and move on (to make sure I loose as much money on this car as possible). I don't even want to think about all the crap I've done to it now.

Baonest, I'd look at those tires, except I have a real car that has wheels/tires wider than a 205/40/13.

I told em Blue (Intermediate) group which is where i ran last time and it was fine. but it was also a pretty small turnout event so there wasnt much trouble w/ traffic. This is my 5th event.

so get in my group, fools, so i can beat you in my quest for the HPDE Championship.

if this is your 3rd event, then i really dont think they will put in you inter/advan group based on your experience.

some groups, even if you have done quit a few events, will pair you with an instructor if this is your first time with the group. i was told this for rockingham last year.

some people are still in the noob group after 3 events. youre very unlikely to be ready for anything advanced. its not a race to the top, try and learn a thing or two. and definately take an instructor if given the option

Agreed people always seem to be in hurry to advance. My past two events at VIR where in Novice with Chin and Green with PCA so I am hoping for blue this time.

Chin's advanced group... can get a bit hairy.

I'm signed up for PCA VIR Dec 2-3, but their amazingly great website doesn't tell me if I'll be instructing/how many students. Good stuff.
Rich/Rex, are you guys still going to R32, any news there?

I just want to be in what ever group HPDE 2 is with other clubs. I am in no rush for the 'top' but at the same time I don't want to be in a group where I am being held up a lot and not enjoying the track

you can enjoy the track, just hit up the pits for a few seconds and wait it out.

now that autosportgallery has moved, anyone know where the closest place is for some fluid. i need some Ate superbl00. those performance garage downtown have any? i dont have any names of those places.

i bought them from online last time. lets see if i can save on shipping.

[Edited on October 27, 2006 at 2:37 PM. Reason : was just told i have type200 (but dont think its enought)]

Ahmet,

No response from the R32 guy yet. I noticed at the NASA Roebling event that you were driving in the HDPE-3 sections even though you were registered for HPDE-4/TT. Did you have to get permission to do that or did you just grid up? I don't really care if they put us in HDPE-4 if we can just drive the HPDE-3 sessions instead.

Yea mark honestly I think the cars in your group sort of hide your real ability. An Evo will be able to overpower a lot of other stuff, especially on a track like Rockingham with only three turns, two of which can be powered through. Hopefully being in the HPDE-2 equivalent of PCA (assuming they don't kick us out for PCA members) you'll be against real sports cars with near equal, close, are better ability.

Rex, I went out w/3 instead of 4 @Roebling to be on track at the same time w/a few other guys. NASA usually prefers you're out w/your assigned group, and I would expect PCA to be only more strict. That said, after making buddy buddy with some of the hot shots @NASA (the announcer dude and the chief instructor), I was out with 4, 3 and 1+2 on Sunday.

Engin, I pick on you guys for not having real sports cars and all, but your blingin' lancers are pretty capable little turds. They certainly had more grip than my pimped M3 on R comps. Dissapointing really...

To all of my loving children (and apparently my mom): It looks like PCA is going to let me instruct w/them, if you'd like to get in on some instruction by Ahmet action, e-mail Nadine and ask. I will have 2 students, so I don't know if I'll have time to ride with people I'm not instructing @this event. If I'm doing Chin though, there should be plenty of time there.

Thoff has descent prices, and their stuff is usually in stock. They do offer a THSCC discount, and never check...

Engin, I wouldn't replace them w/OE tires, they're a bit on the expensive side. If you drive fast in rain, Kumho MXs are good, if you're a bit more sane, the Azenis R615 seems to be a good choice. The latter will probably be my next street tires. That said, if they're not corded yet, I'd run them to the ground on track first. The more worn descent tires are, the slower they wear due to heat/squirm on track.

Nope....its more fun to burn 1/4 of a tank a 20-25 minute run session at VIR..plus they have 100 octane unleaded racing fuel (at $7+ a gallon) on the premises with pumps that are always on and accept credit cards.

Should make for a more fun Revolution...I mean Evolution

from what i have heard. having friends as an instructor isnt the best idea. then again, if ahmet can get on you hard about your driving, then i think its an ok thing.

this is just what some instructors have told me.
