Got a tattoo done at Blue Flame about *thinks* 6 years ago. Now I've noticed little bumps on my skin within the lines of the tattoo. The feel almost like bug bite type bumps but they are only in a cluster on top of the tattoo. Anyone know what this might be? 10/16/2006 11:16:48 PM |

Sounds like scar tissue formation.

It sounds to me like you have a little bit of scar tissue formed. When you itch more, it puffs up more right? And the more you scratch, you're right, the more it spreads.
A good way to counter-act these 'breakouts' is by washing it really well with soap and water, and then applying "maderma" cream. It's sold at rite aid and most other chain drug stores. What you want to do is to massage a little bit of that cream into the affected areas. Massage really well, and eventually you will break down that scar tissue and not have the problem anymore.
hope this helped, and if you need anything else, just ask!

it's actually called "Mederma" cream
about $15-$30 iirc.
it's just onion extract in a cream base, but it's been shown to help lighten the color and smooth the texture of scars, not remove them. 10/18/2006 11:29:59 AM |

mederma is for people who have lots of patience. You have to use it like 3 times a day for 10 years to notice a difference 10/18/2006 11:31:15 AM |

which is exactly why my company was considering getting into that product line. you have to use them for a long time, and they're all very expensive for what they contain...
allium sepa is the "active" in Mederma. Probably $0.45 worth of materials in a bottle... 10/18/2006 11:34:42 AM |
