so i think the gas tank on my truck may be rusty on the inside.. not sure but i'm gonna check it out this weekend.

i read somewhere that radiator shops will clean out and seal a fuel tank, and that it takes a few days...

can anyone confirm this?
anyone know of a good radiator shop that'll do this for me? price?

1980 vw rabbit truck

it is impossible to find a new one in the US.. that's not an exaggeration. the only option is to have the tank cleaned/sealed or to install a fuel cell.

^New gas tanks for first-gen VW waterpumpers are probably damn hard to find, if at all. VW might carry some NOS ones.

SAPS in Garner...offa Loop Road, right around the corner from Loop Road Auto Parts offa Yeargan Rd.

rabbit and rabbit truck tanks are different... trust me, i've searched...

triangle radiator and north raleigh radiator quoted ~$125-150 to clean and seal.. or i could try to get a fuel cell from summit that'll fit in the place the original tank is mounted...

I had one of the tanks on my truck boiled out at Ace radiator on Geer streen in Durham several years ago.

i think POR-15 makes some stuff you pour in and shake around the empty tank to seal it...

eastwood has a kit of cleaner+sealer.. its like $45.. plus you need to buy muriatic acid and acetone.. which would probably put the total around $70.. plus the time/work i'd have to put in..

or i could take it to triangle radiator and pay them $125...
