Part III of my Scorsese and De Niro marathon

Scorsese teams up with Nicholas Pileggi (author of Wise guys) again, writing the script to Casino from another Pileggi book, Casino

Quote :
"This Martin Scorsese film depicts the Janus-like quality of Las Vegas--it has a glittering, glamorous face, as well as a brutal, cruel one. Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro, mobsters who move to Las Vegas to make their mark, live and work in this paradoxical world. Seen through their eyes, each as a foil to the other, the details of mob involvement in the casinos of the 1970's and '80's are revealed. Ace is the smooth operator of the Tangiers casino, while Nicky is his boyhood friend and tough strongman, robbing and shaking down the locals. However, they each have a tragic flaw--Ace falls in love with a hustler, Ginger, and Nicky falls into an ever-deepening spiral of drugs and violence."

I thought this movie was great, even though it was 3 hours long it kept me interested the whole time... Sharon Stone was a fucking lunatic and I hoped like hell De Niro would have that scumbag Lester wacked, but he never did...

The movie ends up a lot like Goodfellas in the fact that everyone gets shook down and killed... Pesci plays almost the exact same character that he does in Goodfellas, an out of control Italian mobster who doesnt take shit from anyone, and who does what he wants...

A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes. But you gotta do it right. I mean, you gotta have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. Otherwise, you're talking about a half-hour to forty-five minutes worth of digging. And who knows who's gonna come along in that time? Pretty soon, you gotta dig a few more holes. You could be there all fuckin' night.

i like when pesci and vincent are having to walk around with their hands over their mouths to talk without worrying about the fbi lipreaders

and that old ass man is walking down the sidewalk, just being an old man, and pesci is all like "who is this guy" and thinks he might be some informant haha

yeah i laughed at the tone Pesci said it in, pretty much like everything he says but anyway...

he makes me laugh with the way he talks shit to people a foot taller than him...

and Frank fucks him up big time at the end of that movie, buried while still breathing, ouch

only one left to watch now that i bought is Taxi Driver

^^^ enjoyable. I need to watch it again, though. My computer froze a few times, at inopportune times, so it ruined the flow.

I know people who have it in their top-5 all time movies. Maybe I'll figure that one out if I watch it a few more times

Both casino and good fellas I have to be in the right frame of mind to watch. Love both movies, but they drag on after a while.
