Anyone listening to HD radio in the area? It looks like ClearChannel has quite a few HD Radio stations running now 10/31/2006 10:05:21 AM |

it seems cool since they can broadcast digital quality audio over FM and AM, and over top of the current analog audio signal, and apparently multicast several audio channels in the same frequency
I haven't heard any actual HD radio over the air, just streaming online
^ you know AM radio sounds like shit, and FM can often sound like crap when you switch back to a CD, HD radio just brings that digital audio quality to broadcast radio

How many local stations broadcast in it? I'm not buying a new radio just to hear Bob and the Showgram laugh in HD. 10/31/2006 10:35:20 AM |

Judging from the all important metric of posts in this thread, I'm calling it a failure. 12/18/2013 10:13:41 AM |

what we need is a Digital Radio Recorder, so you can record programs/rewind/pause. I hate when I have to get out of the car during an interesting program/segment and miss it. 12/18/2013 10:38:40 AM |

I notice in my car when it switches to HD that it does get a bit clearer
I think the more significant thing that it offers is the extra channels that branch off of the one frequency 12/19/2013 9:49:14 PM |

I HATE HD radio. Hate. I had it in my previous car, and there was no way to disable it (if the channel came in both analogue and digital, it would always go to the digital). While you don't get the static you can get with regular FM, in my opinion, it is far inferior due to the compression. The bit rate just sucks. I am really glad my Volt did not come with HD radio. 12/20/2013 10:29:18 AM |

HD radio is what gives my GPS traffic info and lets me skip traffic jams, so I like it 12/20/2013 11:13:20 AM |

There's 2 NPR stations in Denver and the HD one is far superior to the regular one in terms of quality. All the "HD" stations appear to sound much better then regular ones. At least IMHO. 12/20/2013 6:08:04 PM |
