Bulls vs. Heat on TNT right now. Miami is getting thrashed. It's only one game, but I feel like Miami won't be able to repeat.... especially since Wade won't be able to wildly throw himself into defenders and get foul calls.

All the commercials thus far have been pretty lame.

Damn Hinrich just broke Payton's ankles

^^ tell me about it. I got home from work like 3 hours ago and was all pumped to watch the Lakers and Kobe play. Then I turn it on and all I can fucking see is Lamar Odom chucking 3s all game. To top it off Amare isn't even starting.. fuck this game. I'm gonna go down the street to a bar and just drink a bit instead..

duhon went off on miami after chicago went scoreless for 3 minutes...chicago is DEEEEEP now with ben wallace as a viable center...

I like the way Chicago is building their team. They draft guys from winning schools/countries and fill in with free agents from winning teams. I don't know if it will work without a bonafide star but it just seems like a smart way to do things.

They only seem to include players from bigtime winning programs (or countries). Duke, Kansas, UConn, etc, etc.

Personally I've rooted for them since Gordon got drafted. I'll get back to the Knicks the second Isiah Thomas decides to kill himself or not be associated with my Knicks again..

^^i know...it's similar to the detroit philosophy in the "team" aspect. there aren't really any ego trips on the entire team and they sub in a lot of quality players. when hinrich and duhon had their respective runs and gordon wasn't even needed...i was thinking about how competitive their practices must be with those 3 guys who all play on both ends of the court going at it. it's an interesting take because if you can get competitive, smart players like those 3 and have them going at each other's throats every day...when they get in the games and sub in and out for each other...it's a continuous thing.

i'm extremely interested in seeing how this year goes for the bulls because with big ben down low, they don't really have a weakness as long as one of their great shooters can step up in the clutch...they have a lot of options in that regard though.

The Bulls have absolutely changed everything around by making just terrific personnel moves from Paxon on down

its only 1 game, albeit an impressive one, but the pieces seem to be in place and the nucleus is so incredibly young that it will be very interesting to see what happens in the next 5 years

Looks like 2 of the favorites for the NBA finals got WTFPWND tonight, one by a lakers team without its only great player.

May still be an interesting season yet.

duhon looked great tonight (yeah i know it's only one game), but off the bench with

20 points, 7-8 shooting, 3-3 threes, 3-3 fts, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 turnover

the bulls manhandled the heat with ben gordon going 1-9 with 6 points...who woulda thunk it?

I think it's a matter of right place, right time. Quinn has a roster spot because Jason Williams is hurt and the only true PG the Heat has right now is Gary Payton. Personally, I think Hodge can play if given the opportunity. He just needs to find a spot where they need depth at the 2 or 3 position.

How come everybody hates the modern individual-based NBA and yearns for the "good ol days" when it was individual-based to Jordan, Erving, Bird, Magic, etc?

You know there were grumpy basketball fans that loved the NBA in the 60s and 70s and thought all the Jordan Bird Magic shit was the same bullcrap that yall think the current NBA is

I lost interest in the NBA in the late 90's but I'm starting to enjoy the current generation of players. My only problem with the NBA is the same problem I have with MLB. The season is too long with too many games. Any individual game before the allstar break seems almost irrelevent to the final outcome of the season. I'd rather catch highlights on Sportscenter than sit through an entire game.

What's so bad about long seasons? What, would you rather have a schedule similar to the NFL where they play once a week for 17 weeks?

Personally, the length of all the seasons of the major sports are fine. Money makes the franchise go round.

Exactly, and the people always talk about how the "dont play defense in the NBA" at the same time that they long for the "good old days," when scores were regularly in the 130s and up.

^^ I do kind of agree, I think there are far to many games, and the players kind of have to "pace themselves" rather than give it their all every game. I think a 40 game season would be plenty.

The NFL schedule works well for the game. It wouldn't be very exciting for other sports. There is nothing wrong with the ammount of games played per week but I think the NBA's season could be shortened by a month or two. Less exhausted players would make for better playoffs.

I might take the regular season schedule from 82 games to like 70 or something...maybe 60...no lower than that

MLB definitely definitely definitely needs less than 162 games imo

with the NBA, the eventual NBA champions will at MINIMUM play 98 games assuming 4-game sweeps in the playoffs

Cause people back then actually liked Jordan, Bird, and Magic.

What do you have now? Stephon Marbury.

I don't have a problem with players personally. My problem is that I can watch a college game and right after it is done turn it to an NBA game, and I am bored with it in 3 minutes. I can't bring myself to be interested with the NBA product compared to college. They play music during run of play, there's a foul stoppage every 20 seconds, and the fans in the arena don't make any noise at all.

college fans are generally more invested in the team than a professional team's fans. that is true for any sport, and i cant imagine it ever changing.

i'm not going to defend stephon marbury. he's hardly a star on his own team, much less the nba, and isnt really relevant in the conversation. i mean, there are plenty of douchebags in college bball. jj for instance.

the only downside to the heat game was that wade still had a good game. he seems like a nice enough guy, but i hate what he gets away with in the course of a game.

^ did you pick that too?

I put $100 on cleveland to win the East at 6:1 odds

i dont like phoenix or lac to win the west so the only two real options are dallas/san an.... pretty much a crapshoot but i think san an will be more focused this year.

his knee is going to cause him problems all season. I dont know if he'll ever be the same, but he's definitely not getting back to 100% this season. he played 11 minutes the other night.

His knee is fine. He played great summer ball, YOU DON'T KNOW what are you're talking about? If he's not 100% he'll be 95. And thats all we need him at.

Our bench is great. Steve is on route for another mvp type season. I can't wait.

Nash winning the MVP is a complete joke and everyone with half a basketball brain knows that.

He's a great player to watch and all but he's not even a top 5 MVP candidate based solely on production.

And you're a fucking idiot Earl. If Amare was 95% then why did he play 11 minutes? Why couldnt he make the National team? Why isnt he starting again tonight? He had microfracture surgery you idiot. His game is solely based on athleticism. Its gonna flare up all season and he's gonna have trouble even going at all on back to back nights.

They want to save him. He's not needed this early in the season. If they force him out there now, then he will be hurt. If he relaxes until about 1/3 of the season, he will be 95-100.

No need to argue about Nash winning, because its already said and done (twice). Fact. So you're wrong there (yet again) buddy. Evidently, I'm not the only one who thinks that. I only argue fact RDU, and you appear to be on the losing side every time.
