When a theater owner charges $3.00 for admission, there is an average attendance of 100 people. For every $0.10 increase in the admission price, there is a loss of 2 customers from the average number.
1. What admission price should be charged in order to maximize revenue? 2. What is the maximum revenue? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Find the absolute maximum and absolute minimum values of the function below. If an absolute maximum or minimum does not exist, enter NONE.
(i got the absolute max but i'm having trouble with the absolute min)

The radioactive element carbon-14 has a half-life of 5750 years. The percentage of carbon-14 present in the remains of plants and animals can be used to determine age. How old is a skeleton that has lost 58% of its carbon-14? Note: Do not round any numbers during your calculation.

By Newton's Law of Cooling, the rate at which an object cools is directly proportional to the difference in temperature between the object and the surrounding medium. If a certain object cools from 125° to 100° in half an hour when surrounded by air at 75°, find its temperature at the end of another half hour.

if anyone can help me out with those, i'd really appreciate it, thanks a lot

If you find an answer to the first one, that would be great. I had a lot of the same problems as you.

HalfLife Problem answer is T = 7196.34791 ....the key that im guessing you are missing is the rate. for halflife problems R= ln(2)/halflife ....so R= ln(2)/5750 . Also since 58% is gone ....you had 42 percent left. so your formula when all set up is .42=1e^(ln(2)/5750)t . ln of both sides you get ln(.42) = ln(2)/5750 * t divide over the ln(2)/5750 you get t. nah mean? 11/2/2006 2:07:53 AM |
