So I've lost a lot of weight over the past few months and my old clothes are too big. I'm not much of a clothes shopper so some help would be nice.

Work clothes for me are Khaki's and a polo shirt. I wouldn't mind something nicer I never wear ties (nor does anyone else here). I wear jeans too.

I've checked out Rugged Wearhouse and Blue Navy. Just wondering if you knew other places locally around the cary/raleigh area.

Depends on your budget. I don't have a problem spending $60-$70 on cotton khaki's if they are one of my trusted brands.

Just go to a Macy's / Saks / Rich's / Neiman Marcus / Belk

any of the big department stores, and you'll find a huge selection of clothes that would be appropriate for work.

Target is indeed a well-kept secret. They have comfy khakis and polos at very reasonable prices, and they don't fall apart or anything after 1 or 2 washes.

Sure, it's not Lacoste, but it's not gonna cost you a fortune either. I also like to hit up Kohl's or Marshall's every now & then for like $15 Ralph Lauren polos/button-up shirts, and of course the Ralph outlet at Nags Head has some stellar deals if you're looking for brand name stuff.

depending on how much money you want to spend, Nordstrom is a good place to go to. I have a friend who works there, and basically you can have one of their salespeople be your personal shopper and help pick out things that will work all different ways.

I know where I usually shop but I'm hoping for other ideas. I'll pay $60 for a nice suit shirt, but not a polo shirt. No polo shirt on the planet costs more than $8 to make.

I usually hit up Target, Rugged Warehouse and Old Navy (sorry bout the blue navy. Was on nyquil at the time).

I buy the uniform pants stuff from the uniform section at walmart, dickies brand, they are half the price of normal slacks, have mroe pockets, and last longer.

yes to JC Penney and target.
the department stores also have some really kickass clearances, so it's worth a trip to the mall to check them out.

and if you end up passing any outlet malls (there's a decent one in morrisville, right?), stop by to check them out. sometimes the seconds can be pretty bad, but many times, stuff is discarded for really trivial reasons.

the outlet in morrisville is not decent by any means (maybe the izod store since polos etc are included in what u are looking for) the one in smithfield is hot shit though and only 30 mins away...

Kohls is awesome for guys casual dress/work clothes when they have one of their mega sales (Although I don't think there is ever a weekend when they aren't having one?)

Also, the Tommy Hilfiger Outlet in Smithfield has nice solid color polo shirts for ~$15 each. (some are a little less, some more) There's a Ralph Lauren outlet there, too-- but their prices tend to be much higher. The weekend after Thanksgiving is when all of the major department stores have major sales to get all the shoppers out starting on Christmas shopping.... you can find some great deals at Belk, Macys, etc. A lot of guys have luck at Sears, too. You could also try catalogs-- some people don't like the idea, but LLBean & Lands End are quality clothes at reasonable prices.

I like Target for polos and even dress pants. Usually I'll go to belks/hechts, but Target is the only place so far where I've gotten inexpensive, good quality polo shirts that fit me right and that won't wear out after 2 washes.

Kohl's store brand polos never fit me right (the collar wouldn't stay open right, the material where it buttons was too thick so you couldn't keep the polo open around the neck; looked really dorky), so I'd recommend avoiding them. I'm sure their name brand stuff is fine though.

Ross sells garbage that falls apart easily. Wrinkle resistant everything ftw. You might tell yourself that you will iron some shit or get it dry cleaned, but you won't.

They usually have wrinkle-resistant stain-defending (not the copyrighted kind, but almost as good) khakis in lots of styles for $20

you can't beat $17 dollar Dickies pants at Wal-Mart. I work in construction and put them through the ringer everyday, but they always clean up nice.
