Looks pretty cool. I hope it has a few more options than "Most Wanted". I am still always confused though as to how a tuned Chevy Cobalt can keep up with a Mercialago. O well. 11/6/2006 12:32:55 PM |

PSP version kinda sucks.
DS version REALLY sucks.
Xbox version is alright. Bout the same as Most Wanted.
I would imagine the 360 version is about the same but with shiny-er graphics. 11/6/2006 12:36:10 PM |

^^^Rubber band AI? It made having a better car than your opponent in Most Wanted unnecessary (and often undesirable) and killed the game for me. 11/6/2006 12:38:41 PM |

It's named rubber band AI because it works as if there is a rubber band that is attached to your car on one end and the opponent's car on the other end. If you get too far ahead the CPU controlled pinto will slingshot forward from the tension on the "rubber band" and start driving 500mph to catch up to your Porsche. If you get too far behind the CPU controlled car will slow down because the tension on the "rubber band" won't let it get too far out.
It basically destroys any racing game IMO. It's a poor programmer's cover for inadequate AI. Every race I played came down to the wire irregardless of what kind of car I was driving with respect to the competition. In my mind if you have the superior car and decent skills you should be able to lap the competition if they are driving inferior cars.
I put down Most Wanted for good the day I was beat by a car with less than half my stats. I was even able to pin them behind an 18 wheeler and gain a quick 18 second lead. The CPU controlled controlled car overtook me about 8 seconds after building that 18 second lead and went on to win. Most of the track was straightaways also. Zapped the fun right out of the game. 11/6/2006 2:12:19 PM |

most wanted was fun. i beat it and averaged about 15 second wins with the last 3 sets of events. if you learn the tracks and use a faster car, you CAN blow out the cpu despite the "rubberband ai" 11/6/2006 2:19:56 PM |

if i remember, when the rubber band junk first came out most of the games had the option to turn it off. 11/6/2006 2:41:38 PM |

Yeah, they did. Most Wanted only had the option to turn it off in one particular game mode though. There was no way of turning it off in the single player campaign mode. 11/6/2006 2:58:08 PM |
