Starting this up.
Heard this on Hardball.
According to the Secretary of State in Tennessee, they expect 1.8 million votes for the senate race between Ford and Corker. 867,000 of those votes have already been cast via absentee.
Big number.

I'm actually more entertained by three races outside my district this year.
The NC 13th,
The Florida senate race, where Katherine Harris will go down in flames and James Dobson is bringing up the Terri Schiavo bullshit in order to try to get at Bill Nelson,
and the Florida Governor race, which is between Jim Davis and George Hamilton on Methamphetamines.

For those of you that don't like Hillary (myself included), she will definitely win re-election to the Senate, but it may knock her out of the running for the 2008 presidential race. The New York Republican Party is matching the Ohio Republican Party in being in absolute shambles. The Democratic slate is pretty much going to sweep the ballot, and this presents problems for Hillary cause she might get less percentage of the vote than other Democratic candidates on the ballot statewide. If she trails the party ticket, it shows that there is less enthusiasm for her than for a general Democrat. 11/6/2006 10:27:08 PM |

For those of you who don't like Katherine Harris (myself included), rest assured that she's at a 1-3 disadvantage right now (20% to 60% among decided voters).
what a moron.

i predict that the dems will pick up a couple of seats, but not gain control. at least, i hope they dont. i could mind some conservative dems coming in, like heath shuler. your far-left dems, your nancy pelosis, thats who needs to be kept out. her reign hangs in the balance, so its more important to assure party lines than values now. we cant have her take the lead. 11/6/2006 11:05:54 PM |

It's going to be a banner night for third party/independent support, and has been predicted as highest vote total for such candidates nationally since 1914. (even if you take out Lieberman).
Americans think Republicans and Democrats both suck. Yay!
As far as results tonight, does anyone find it ironic that Republicans may be counting on Lincoln Chafee, considering how his own party has treated him in the past?

I just voted for more Democrats than Republicans.
And if I believed in vote fraud, I would go over to the next district and vote five times for Brad Miller.
Oh, and according to CNN, the Governor of South Carolina and several congressmen have been turned away from the voting place for improper identification, and two precincts in Kansas can't vote yet because a squirrel knocked out their power.
Forget Islamofascists and liberals, nobody hates freedom more than those fucking tree rats.

Well, here in SC, you have to have another form of ID (or a utility bill) if you registered by mail and its your first time voting. Maybe the Governor switched districts (I know he has a house on Sullivan's Island now, so he might have switched) 11/7/2006 2:10:12 PM |

but what they're wondering is if all you can do is go in there and state a name and an address and vote in that person's stay
because frankly, if i had sent another male in there with my info, i'm fairly certain they could have voted for me

As a Libertarian a good stalemate is as close as we can get, if we can't actually have libertarians in office. The best government is the one that governs least. (And look at the great government we have built in Iraq ) Now if we could just let get troops out so the Iraqis could get on with their lives their own way.

CNN generic exit polls, they can't give results early by law. From a Democrat post obviously:
Quote : | "CNN says ” a lot of surprises”; Top reasons why people voted: * corruption * terrorism * economy * Iraq - of these 57% disapprove;
“What issues determine your vote?”
62% national 33% local
When asked about which party could handle terrorism well, a majority said Dems AND Repubs - according to the exit polls, terrorism is not the winning issue for them they thought it was. The “national” vs “local” issues number is shocking and I think it bodes well for the good guys. " |
FYI, there was no exit polling done in house races by the Voter News Service, aka the big networks and news organizations due to lack of reliability in them.

Everyone should read this piece by Orson Scott Card:
Quote : | "I say this as a Democrat, for whom the Republican domination of government threatens many values that I hold to be important to America's role as a light among nations.
But there are no values that matter to me that will not be gravely endangered if we lose this war. And since the Democratic Party seems hellbent on losing it – and in the most damaging possible way – I have no choice but to advocate that my party be kept from getting its hands on the reins of national power, until it proves itself once again to be capable of recognizing our core national interests instead of its own temporary partisan advantages.
To all intents and purposes, when the Democratic Party jettisoned Joseph Lieberman over the issue of his support of this war, they kicked me out as well. The party of Harry Truman and Daniel Patrick Moynihan – the party I joined back in the 1970s – is dead. Of suicide." |
