I've been trying to burn VCDs but it takes about 6-8 hours to finish. The burning is quick but encoding the video takes forever. Is there a way to do this faster or a program that might be faster?

Hey, Noen, you do realize that there are plenty of LEGAL USES of VCDs as a medium, right? Way to not help.

What program are you using now?

And generally, you'll need a faster computer to make the encoding go faster. Plan your encoding to occur during times you aren't using your computer (class, work, sleep, etc.).

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5. The computer is a 1.6 gig with 512 ram so that's probably not helping either. What other programs would be good for it?

Yeah you might want to invest in a much more powerful computer. That's like 9 generations behind and for what you want to do for about $200 you can bring it up to speed.

You need 1gig of ram and get a athlon xp 3700 combo that newegg is selling. ~$212+ shipping.

If this were a legal endevour, why in the world are you making VCD's and not DVD's? It would take a TON less time, give you much better quality, be easier for them the deal with and would cost about the same.

Yes I am fully aware of VCDs. I am also aware that DVD's are just as cheap and transferring MiniDV->DVD is a shitton easier than to VCD.

is the problem, much more the 1.6 than the 512. maybe you can upgrade just the processor on your machine.

if i were you tho i would set one to go before i left for the day or before i went to sleep.
