Pretty much to sum it up:

He said:

The NFL was easier than he thought it'd be.

me too, was it by any unlikely chance a state jersey he was wearing?

that would be about a 10^10^6 on the cool-o-meter

Nope

But I saw him wearing a Maryland jersey during a PC once

It was a bet he made with Merriman.

I could definitely see Phil being a color analyst when he retires from the game. He just has that persona. But that's a little ways off..

It looks like they'll be playing either Denver, Baltimore, or New England on the road in the first round of the playoffs. We'll see how easy that is...

^They have to go to Cincinatti and Denver in the next two weeks. It will be a tall task for them to beat Denver on the road (and Cincinatti is tough too)....not to mention they'll be w/o Merriman. They didn't exactly blow out the Browns this past weekend.

If they can go 2-0 in the next two games, then I think they're golden. But San Diego isn't exactly invincible...and their defense has been struggling late, especially with injuries.

he didn't wear a maryland jersey for losing the bet with merriman. it was a t-shirt with the old school looking baseball font with the swoosh that simply said, "maryland".

http://www.chargers.com/news/headlines/phillips-not-ruled.htm

Quote :
"As he regularly does, quarterback Philip Rivers was wearing a red t-shirt bearing the name of an Atlantic Coast Conference school when he took the podium Wednesday. The shirt, however, was not from his alma mater.

“(Shawne) Merriman and I had a little bet going, so I had to wear a Maryland shirt today,” Rivers said.

Merriman’s Terrapins beat Rivers’ North Carolina State Wolfpack 26-20 last weekend, forcing Rivers to don the Maryland apparel. So what would have happened if Merriman had lost the bet?

“I had the shortest pair of NC State gym shorts you could imagine he was going to have to wear,” Rivers said. “At least this is red and fits well.” "
