I have an older computer and the video output stopped working, I changed to the onboard video of the motherboard and still no video output. I tried the monitor on another computer and it worked, and I tried a different monitor on the other computer and still no video. I then put in a different aftermarket video card and tried one final time, still no video.

I got a new computer (It was needed for the video editing I have been doing anyway) but I am wondering if I can use the other components out of my old computer to build an internet surfing box for my wife and kid? Is there a way to check and see if the old processor is OK without buying all the components for a new computer?

If it matters I think the processor is a 2.4GHZ Pentium

i don't know what your level of expertise is in terms of computers, but how do you know it's just the video that stopped working? when you say you tried the onboard video, did you actually tweak some settings in BIOS or just plug the monitor into the port? i'm betting your processor is fine...reset your BIOS to default (should enable on-board video) and try it again...if you get video, you're probably good

how do I tweak settings in my BIOS without being able to see it? I am currently getting no video at all.

check your owner's manual (or go online)...you'll need to move a jumper, power on the computer, turn it off, and then put the jumper back (something along those lines)

btw, this will require you taking the outside cover off your computer
