al tool?
I'm doing the timing belt on my gf's V6 Accord and can't get the damn crank pulley off. I've tried a torch and PBblaster coupled w/ a makeshift strapwrench (visecripts, serp belt, 2' screwdriver) against a 3' breaker bar and i've tried a corded electric impact gun. no luck
The pulley has a recessed hex shaped indention. Is there a honda tool thats like a long handle w/ a big hex to fit this? one could then pry against that w/ a breaker bar.
Any idears? Anyone want to weld me up a tool? 11/10/2006 10:32:41 PM |

damn, you know i went in halves with a friend on that tool, but he moved to charlotte.
try to get your GF to sit in the car with the foot on the brake, in 5th gear(if 5spd).
and get a breaker bar and a nigger rigged extension behind the breaker bar and pop it loose.
if not.... then stick a lifetime warranty screw driver (flathead) on the side of the brake caliper where there is a slot... 11/10/2006 10:53:16 PM |

^^yeh, but i don't work on her car too much. this timing belt job is the first major thing. other than just an alternator and routine maintenance.

This thing has proven to be popular. I had to use it again because the crank bolt came loose AGAIN after torquing it to the spec. Now it has thread locker and 210 lb-ft. I still haven't welded the reducing bushing in place yet. For now I just use some 1/4x20 sawed off bolts to keep that fitting in place.

i built the tool above out of pipe fittings, etc and after some grinding to make the hex part fit and me bouncing on the end of a 5' pipe on a breaker bar, i heard the SNAPOP! i've been sweet dreaming of. oh yes. oh yes. 11/11/2006 4:53:51 PM |

I'll sell the POS one I made a couple weeks back for $10. It's just a couple of pipe fittings, but it got the job done for a '90 accord auto.
& you all were right, loosening up the motor mounts isn't that bad 11/12/2006 6:42:34 PM |

You only had to remove about 1/64"-1/32" to get it to fit.11/12/2006 9:00:06 PM |
