Personally, I voted for mostly democrats in the last election as my means of protesting the war. 11/14/2006 3:31:09 PM |

He went into it knowing that it was a futile act. If he had wanted to genuinely make a difference in the world he would have done something useful.
It comes down to a guy wanting to commit suicide but wanting to feel like his life served a purpose. 11/14/2006 4:13:23 PM |

Agreed, especially considering that there are many more effective ways to protest the war... like Supplanter mentioned, the last election is a good example. Poor guy didn't even make a blip on the national media radar. 11/14/2006 4:34:36 PM |

^good thing i skip over everything you write
obviously one can support the war in many ways. however, simply stating that you support the troops or putting a yellow magnet on your car does not accomplish a damn thing.
its about as futile as typing on a message board or burning yourself alive to protest the war

I think that more anti-war people should set themselves on fire. And in fact, they should REFUSE to extinguish themselves until after the war is over. I think this would make a great political statement, and should be done immediately! 11/15/2006 7:09:42 AM |
