I accidentally got mine changed
(another teacher asked how advising was, and I was *REALLY* frustrated at that point - so I told them "She hasn't approved my plan of work, hasn't emailed me back about either the new concentrations, registration, or the prereq question" [one of those emails had been from the beginning of the semester, and this was march or april]. I had a new (kickass!) adviser the next day ) 11/14/2006 7:48:16 PM |

I changed mine without being a douche. Politely stopped by my dean's office and told her my grievances and she switched me to my adviser of choice. Though they all seem to blow. 11/14/2006 9:01:59 PM |

just go see another advisor, without knowing more of your situation another advisor may be able to resolve your problem. then you and your old advisor can kiss and make up. watch out though, holding a grudge with your advisor is not advisable. 11/14/2006 9:54:13 PM |

If you could change advisors easily, everyone would just go to joyce hatch. 11/14/2006 10:25:58 PM |

1) Talk to who you want your new advisor to be. 2) Get them to agree to the switch. 3) Ask you departmental secretary to change your advisor to who you want. 4) Profit 11/15/2006 12:33:41 AM |

talk to the coordinator of advising for your department. He or she can make advising changes. Coordinators are listed here:
