after the pick 6, p-rizzle went 11/13, 148 yards, and 2 passing td's (+1 rushing for lt) in 3 consecutive scoring drives. his qb rating for the game was 92.15 and peyton posted a 67.68 down in dallas. romo was something like 88-ish. rivers should jump up to the #1 spot in nfl qb rating.

"...uh, why is PR wearing a Texas Tech shirt?"

He mentioned something about it in a prior press conference. Bobby Knight gave it to him when he was in college. Apparently they're boys or something. He's worn it twice already, one time he wore a shirt that was hanging in Antonio Gates' locker, he wears that oldass Pack Power shirt, and he's all about T-Shirts and shit when other players are looking pimpalicious in press interviews. He also said he just wakes up and rolls to practice with bed-head. Can this guy get any more down to earth?

When Philip Rivers does push ups, he doesn't push up his body, he pushes the earth down.

Everybody clown this kid for making a fake Philip Rivers myspace page. I love the people who actually think it's him. Read some of the captions for the pictures and anyone who was at State while he was here will instantly know it ain't our boy

Power rankings have some pretty good captions:

Quote :
"The good thing about Indy losing is we don't have to worry about hearing from the grumpy, old '72 Dolphins anymore. The only grumpy old men worth listening to were Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon."

Quote :
"DeAngelo Williams' emergence gives the Panthers so many weapons that the United Nations is thinking of asking for sanctions against Carolina."

Quote :
"If Brett Favre isn't healthy enough to make consecutive start No. 252 that leaves just Ingle Martin, who's never taken a snap in the regular season. Miller stock just went up."

Quote :
"Vince Young missed the team flight to Philly on Saturday night and had to pay for his own flight. He said he got stuck in traffic behind a funeral procession. No truth to the rumor that it was Kerry Collins' career in the hearse."

yes. and there are a couple of others i've noticed.
- dree brees got hurt in week 17. as we all know, philip has had the number since atleast high school, and it was also his father's number.
- the chargers overcame a 17 point deficit in denver last week.
- i believe there was another 17 point comeback, but i'm not sure.
- cam cameron was the head coach of indiana university when philip beat them in his freshman year and sophmore year.

there was another coincidence, but i can't remember it right now.

The record was "no team has ever come back from consecutive 17 point or greater deficits.

They were down 17 to the donkeys, but 21 to the bungles.

the Chargers were down 17 points at KC and came back to tie the game late in the 4th quarter... only to have their d-fens fold in the final minute and give up a 53 yard field goal to lose the game.

"Are the Chargers better off with Philip Rivers than Drew Brees? E-mail us at post@espnmag.com."

Dear ESPN,

I'm an NCSU grad who had the priviledge of watching Rivers for four years. I'll grant you I'm somewhat biased, but seriously I've been expecting this day and your article for some time.

How good is Philip Rivers? Check out his senior year. He was good enough to take a mediocre NC State team into The Shoe and come within inches of knocking off BCS bowl-bound and defending national champions Ohio State. After his departure NC State hasn't had an offense, or quarterback, worth anything. His coach at NC State has been exposed and fired for reaping the benefits of the best quarterback in the country in 2003.

Yes, he was better than both Eli Manning and Jason White, who finished 1 and 2 in the heisman voting. Check out the stats, and you'll notice that Rivers put up incredible numbers, like the best passer rating in the country (170.49), secondmost total passing yards (4491), the best completion % (72.1%), and a solid 9.3 yds/attempt just in case anyone claims he can't throw downfield. Yet he was overlooked due to (1) his name (not a Manning), and (2) his team's average record. His departure ushered in the end to NC State's rise to prominence. I think it's clear who's to blame for a 7-5 record, and it isn't the QB.

The fact that he's excelled so quickly in the NFL only justifies what many Wolfpackers and former foes alike have known for some time now. Those who watched him saw what the country is only now beginning to recognize. Philip Rivers isn't just a great QB. He's a prodigy. The man put NC State on his shoulder for four years, and now he'll do the same in San Diego.

Better than Brees? He's younger, taller, more accurate, makes better decisions, has great worth ethic, is personable and likeable, and above all is an effective leader. The debate can and should be over. This in no way takes anything away from Drew Brees, who after several years is clearly hitting his stride as one of the elite QBs in the game. I'm simply saying Rivers is even better, and will GET better.

Not only that, he's got an all-star cast around him San Diego. You've just put a kid in the candy store. I suggest you do what I do - just sit back and enjoy the show... the NFL's newest star.

He had a pretty below-average game today. But he was solid in the last quarter and a half and didn't make any mistakes.

And man....LT really hurts Philip's touchdown numbers.
