Our trees didn't fruit this year. I know SEANC has them shelled and sells them for a fundraiser, but iirc, it's $8 for a half pound
Anyone know whether the farmer's market will have any? I'm stuck at work all day, and I need to make pecan pies tomorrow 11/21/2006 1:08:34 PM |

In my experience, if you want pecans, ask around and try to find people who have pecan trees. If those trees produced nuts, I know a lot of people who will pay just to get the damned things out of their yard. At the very least, your only expense will be picking them up yourself. I spent many an hour as a young child gathering pecans from relatives' yards. 11/21/2006 1:24:07 PM |

I know We're the only ones we know with pecan trees that are fruiting (my grandfather has some, but this is their first year producing, and there's barely anything).
the other issue is that I've waited too long to be able to shell any I might get like that.
(and for those of you on here who might have pecan trees: Agri-Supply has some kickass pecan pickers) 11/21/2006 1:25:51 PM |

our trees didn't do anything this year either, but you can't expect pecan trees to bloom every year. also, dollar general here had 6 oz. bags of shelled pecans for 2.50. I don't know if they are any good though 11/21/2006 4:48:35 PM |
