This would just have to ruin an agent's career.
"How can you protect the President if you cannot protect his daughter's purse?"
Quote : | "One of the twin daughters of President George W Bush has had her handbag stolen in Argentina despite protection by US Secret Service agents.
Barbara Bush, 24, lost her mobile phone and credit cards in the incident in a restaurant in the capital, Buenos Aires - but she was not hurt.
She was dining with her twin sister Jenna at the time.
ABC News in the US says the theft went unnoticed by the heavy secret service force protecting the family.
US officials in Buenos Aires and Washington have declined to comment on the incident.
The BBC's Daniel Schweimler in Buenos Aires says it is highly embarrassing for the protection force.
The Bush daughters have been on holiday in the city for the past three weeks.
Our correspondent says that although Buenos Aires, a popular tourist destination, remains one of the safest cities in Latin America, petty crime is on the increase - whether you are protected by the US Secret Service or not." |

He's going to be stuck protecting Cheslea Clinton, whom no one would touch with a 10 foot pole. It'll be easier for him there, because people with >10 ft poles walking around are easy to spot. 11/22/2006 9:43:23 AM |

My guess...didn't even notice. Secret service usually hangs back a bit so as not to interrupt their girl-talk! 11/22/2006 11:05:48 AM |

Are you kidding? He snatched the purse and no one, not the two at the table, or the guys around the room whose job is to look out for the two at the table, was able to see the guy had taken it til he was already gone.
If I were him and found out later that it was the President's daughter's purse I snatched, I think I'd bronze it or something, put it as a shrine, and call it "My Finest Heist Ever", just cause he did it without a half-dozen Secret Service agents noticing. The CIA pay good money for people that can do this.11/22/2006 11:45:50 AM |

All I have to say is that this is a testiment to the art of purse snatching that has been refined in countries like Argentina for centuries. 11/22/2006 1:43:27 PM |

My money says she lost the purse in some stupid manner and is covering it up by saying it was stolen. I've seen it done before. 11/22/2006 1:48:56 PM |

What's more important, protecting the president's daughter or chasing a purse snatcher? Ever heard of a diversion? Granted, this shouldn't have happened and doesn't look good, but protecting the principal is the mission, which the Secret Service accomplished. 11/23/2006 8:30:56 PM |

They screwed up on the job. How can you twist that to sound good? It shouldn't have happened, but it did, and, hey, at least she didn't get kidnapped!
?
I don't think this purse snatching is some big deal, but how can you defend the secret service?11/24/2006 1:05:03 AM |
