We'll throw the house at Cowher.

He won't take it... and in my opinion we'll go after Paul Johnson, Gene Chizik, or maybe even Norm.

Norm is a little old to be taking over at coach, but he's been a helluva assistant.

(Edit: I'll also add Skip Holtz to that list as well. Possibly Kragthorpe)

Jimbo was our #1 choice when we hired Trestman...after Mazzone left

That's somewhat interesting. I'm not sure who I'd rather have...he or Chizik...if it came down to it

The ACC will never allow it.

Yes he would. Nicer facilities, better school, more money, BCS Conference

No, they would, but there would be strings attached. He showed interest in the UNC job as well. Haven't heard anything during that search either to say it couldn't happen.

We are a much better team, with a lot more talent.... They beat us, but we had some guys out, we had no reason to play, half the fanbase wanted us to lose so there would be no doubt Chuck is gone. Many of the players are upset with Chuck, so they had no reason to "play to win". Had Chuck publicly gotten the AXE before the ECU game we would have won.

With that being said, I'd rather get a bigger name than Skip, but he has done a lot of good at EZU.

The only reason I would want Skip would be to see the uproar from the ECU crowd.

My order would be:
Chow
Fisher
...
Donnan
Johnson

after those four I don't know where I would go.

Am I the only one that thinks someone like Dirk Koetter, who was fired by ASU, is what we need?

He is an offensive mastermind and has put QBs in the NFL.

as i've posted before, my boss is a big nc state donor and this morning i asked him what he thought about the situation. he wanted chuck to stay and thought he would rebound with the young team we had and wasn't wild about paying off 3 years of his contract. he met with one of the top 10 wolfpack club donors and here is what that guy said last week:

"you heard it here first, the top 5 wolfpack club donors met and are willing to pay off amato's remaining salary to bring in cowher and he will be here within a month"

i'm skeptical, but this is coming from a reliable source who is close friends with amato and fowler. personally, i want shula ...but it looks like there is actually some traction behind the cowher ideas.

^That isn't what I said. One of the top donors said post-meeting, that they were paying Chuck's salary to fire him (before it happened) and that Cowher was going to be here within a month (but I assume within a month after the season).

It's only speculation, but it certainly DID come from someone who has the money to be in the know for Wolfpack Athletics and it wasn't from fabalus.

I still don't think it will happen, it was just interesting to hear that from my boss because he loves Amato and I've met Chuck and his family in his box in the Towers...he doesn't think Cowher will come though and wants either Shula or Johnson.

Why on earth would anyone want LSU's OC as a head coach? They have had a terrible offense forever and I wouldn't even want him as an OC.
