I'd get it molded into 50 lb plates to add weight to wakeboard boats. Adding a thousand pounds plus a few people to a boat makes the wake much bigger. You can also move all the weight to one side and get a big enough wake to surf it without a tow rope. I'd probably keep 1000 lbs and sell 1000 lbs to offset the cost of getting it molded. 11/27/2006 5:29:42 PM |

Yes. That's what I use now. Mine is supposed to be 680 lbs when filled. Bags are great to stick in a storage locker and fill/drain when necessary, but they take a lot of room and can't be moved around like lead.
A 400 lb stack of lead might be 10" high and take about the same footprint as a X-large pizza box. You can step on it and you don't have to worry about it getting cut or damaged by the sun. You can also move it quickly since you're dealing with 50 lb plates instead of one unit that weighs 400 lbs. They're also versatile. You can stick a couple hundred pounds in the front to drive the bow down and a few hundred on each side of the boat so that it is evenly weighted. The downside is that you can't just drain the lead to save gas mileage when you're travelling to a spot.

Ah, I was thinking more along the lines of Ballast Lead, thats what we do with it . . . haven't really heard of people using plates to shape the wake . . . but then I'm rather novice when it comes to wakeboarding 11/27/2006 7:03:54 PM |
