I'm on a super secret listserv that gives me the heads up. I'm also not anywhere near this type of industry.

Minimum Requirements: 4 years of experience as an IT Analyst, Programmer, or Systems Administrator preferred, and a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with applicable experience as a System Architect. Certification as a CCIE preferred.
Position Duties: Plans and designs the technology architecture to promote greater efficiencies through increased economies of scale. Architects the technology infrastructure, hardware and software. Provides key systems analysis, design, development, support and maintenance of all the City's applications; provides a total systems perspective including technical understanding of relationships, dependencies, and requirements; provides technical support and guidance for systems integration, configuration and analysis; provides technical recommendations for optimized data access and retention for all data sources and holdings; and provides oversight to data architecture team support across customer programs. Participates in setting the technological direction of the City's infrastructure and systems. Advises the IT management team on technology options and issues.

Huh, i thought a CCIE would get paid slightly more than that upperbound (just b/c most CCIE folks are way past 4 yrs experience- and it's a CCIE), but otherwise, i'll pass it along to some folks i know, thx for the post. 11/27/2006 4:00:19 PM |

^^^^^ State benefits are usually pretty generous / competitive of that of a private company. Varies from state to state, as it does from company to company.
I'm surprised the requirements are so low ... only 4 years of experience and a bachelors degree. Would think 10 years and a masters degree (or a combination thereof) would be the minimum. I'd also be highly curios as to the responsibilities and time requirements for such a position. They are outlined but not given in great detail.
