damn Satan-worshipping hippies...
Is this the first shot in the War on Christmas? Are we defining "anti-Americanism" as "anti-Christianity", as those who call this a protest against war are doing?11/27/2006 4:36:47 PM |

This is absolutely ridiculous, but probably within the rights of the homeowner's association. I can't fucking stand homeowner associations. 11/27/2006 4:40:12 PM |

Stuff like this is why I stopped being Republican. Primarily, the loss of reason, intolerance of the opinion of others.... and demonizing anything you don't understand as "evil". 11/27/2006 4:53:26 PM |

When I actually saw the wreath, I got even more pissed off. Even if demonstrations against the war are barred by their homeowner's association, that thing was simply a seasonal wreath. This jackass homowner guy just didn't like the liberal (assuming) that lived there and he was taking it out on his decorations. 11/28/2006 7:27:43 AM |

obviously the way to combat overbearing HOAs are to have your lawyer go over the covenant with a fine tooth comb and identify areas of severe annoyance that are not covered. begin practicing them immediately and with vigor. 11/28/2006 7:39:46 AM |

In my subdivision, our douchebag neighbors moved out about 4 years ago, still own the property, but are letting the house fucking rot. The yard is a jungle and the house is probably falling apart. It's really affecting the sale of our house. And we can't do shit about it. Sometimes I wish we were part of a douchey homeowner's association. 11/28/2006 8:02:17 AM |

Quote : | "Truce declared in peace wreath battle DENVER, Colorado (AP) -- A subdivision has withdrawn its threat of $25 daily fines against a homeowner who put a Christmas wreath shaped like a peace sign on the front of her home.
Homeowner Lisa Jensen told The Associated Press on Monday that the board of directors of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association had apologized, called the incident a misunderstanding and had withdrawn its request for the wreath's removal.
Jensen was ordered to take the wreath down when some residents in her 200-home subdivision saw it as a protest of the Iraq war. Bob Kearns, president of the board, also said some saw it as a symbol of Satan.
The homeowners' association demanded Jensen remove the wreath from her house, saying it doesn't allow flags or signs that are considered divisive.
None of the three members of the board in the scenic town 270 miles southwest of Denver was available for comment late Monday. Kearns and colleague Jeff Heitz both had their phone numbers changed to unlisted numbers Monday. Tammy Spezze, the third board member, did not return a call seeking comment.
Jensen, a past association president, said she was overwhelmed with hundreds of calls of support and offers to help her pay the $1,000 fine that would be due if she kept the wreath up until after Christmas.
"We would like to thank everyone who has contacted us with moral support and offers of financial support. We are grateful to hundreds of complete strangers who felt so moved by this story they contacted us," she said.
"It seems whenever someone tries to say 'Peace on Earth' it is met with so much resistance," she said. "The incredible amount of support we have received over the last couple of days really is proof to us of how many people believe in peace and in our right to say it." " |

its funny, in elementary school I lived in kernersville, and I recall this girl from one of my classes telling me that peace signs were signs of satan worship after i drew one on a paper. She said they were broken and inverted crosses. Mind you she was 8 at teh time the brainwashing some people do to their kids is insane. 11/28/2006 8:59:57 AM |

Well, least-cost-avoider theory suggests you should mow their lawn for them, just until your house sells. It is possible they do care about the house and would be willing to compensate you for your effort, but even if they do not, $40 of effort to sell a $100,000 item seems a no-brainer to me.11/28/2006 10:40:11 AM |

I doubt it. Methinks he's a hardcore troop supporter that dislikes this woman because she's anti-war. While he's a total douchebag and I would hate to have him anywhere near my HOA, my guess is that there was previous animosity between these two that isn't being reported. How much you guys want to bet they already disliked one another? 11/28/2006 11:24:04 AM |

well she is the ex-president of the HOA, so i could see that depending on the situation to her stepping down, etc...
She did state that the war had nothign to do with her putting that up though, and that it was more of a spiritual thing-good will towards man and all that xmas jazz 11/28/2006 11:28:18 AM |

Maybe, I found this part to be kinda confusing if not in reference to the war. Of course, I couldn't care less if she did it for goodwill and peace on earth or for peace in Iraq, this is America.11/28/2006 11:30:58 AM |
