I bought one of the 2nd Gen Shuffles and it's giving me the "Cannot read from or write to" error 50 warning. I've tried a few of the fixes online, including uninstalling/reinstalling itunes. I'm running it on a 2.0 USB, but even still, sometimes the iPod isn't recognized... If you can fix this for me (physically), it's worth 15$ or a case of beer (if you're 21). When I say physically, I mean you come to my house, and do the work yourself, not just another set of directions... unless they're short and easy... in that case, I'll buy you a beer at the bar (21 again). Thanks.

Man, you have a 1 year warranty. Unless this thing was stolen from apple (meaning the serial would be flagged) then go to the nearest apple store. If you're in raleigh then just go to crabtree. Hell if you bought it at a retail place within their exchange period just exchange it. Either option should result in you getting a new shuffle almost immediately.

I just bought it from BB on Sunday, and it kills my computer... I've tried the restore and even uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes... to no avail. There are TONS of fixes and I was looking for someone that might have some experience with it. Will Best Buy accept the return despite the fact that it's been opened? (Obviously, I still have the receipt).

the apple store will replace it too, in addition to Best Buy. All ipods have a 1 year manufacturers warranty - doesn't matter where you bought it.
I bought a Nano in Germany from a private vendor last year and they still replaced it at the Durham Apple Store. they just check the serial number and see when it was registered.

but start with BB since that's where you got it and it obviously doesn't work nearly out of the box.
