I boycotted it due to the advertising. Hopefully it'll get cancelled immediately and they'll play re-runs of Nip/Tuck and Rescue me instead.

Ok I broke down and watched it.

Here's my review:

Dirt sucks. So far.

Every scene seems to be riddled with hyper-cliched lines and all the attempts at "deep" stuff is so blatent that it is ruined. In the opening 15 minutes, we see the star impress a young boy toy on the streets of Hollywood by showing that she can quote Proust. When we get to see her office, it is adorned with huge Renaissance style paintings of naked people writhing in flames. It's almost like they want us to know she's a sharp, evil-seeming protagonist.

But that's not the reason Dirt sucks. The problem with this show, and one that will doom it despite crazy story arcs (ala Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me), is that the good guys and bad guys just aren't likeable.

We're supposed to feel bad about these movie stars lives being ruined. We're supposed to feel empathetic about the plight of Courtney Cox's character. But at the end, I realized I could care less.

Dirt's a show about the Paparazzi and the biggest celebrities. Those are two facets of this world that I've already heard plenty about, and it would be very difficult for me to feel for these characters.

Give me plastic surgeons wives, cops, firefighters, porn stars, anaestesiologists...

But Hollywood celebrities and Paparazzi divas fail to make me connect.

and this is more of a gripe... but how in the fuck did homegirl get into Lucy's appartment? I mean I know they caught her "stalker" and all so there was no longer security at her house, but does she not lock her doors???
