this needs to be our #1 target (if cowher's completely out of the picture).

has a national title ring as OC from LSU, young, energetic, one hell of a recruiter and ready to be the main man somewhere. he'd probably keep several guys from our current staff - portee, cignetti, stroud, and dixon (i'm sure they know each other from recruiting battles down in the SEC) among others.

i agree, jimbo impressed me the most from the analysis in the technician today. I also think cowher is out of the question. He has SEC experience, arguably the best league in the country, and an offensive mind is just what we need. Not to mention he's relatively young so we can keep him for awhile, unlike chow who is about amato's age and we'd only get about 5 years from him

Quote :
"Considered an expert in the passing game, LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell thrived under Fisher’s tutelage in 2005 as the sophomore passed for 2,443 yards and 15 touchdowns in leading the Tigers to the SEC title game. Four times in 2005, Russell led the Tigers to comeback wins in either the fourth quarter or overtime, which included a win over Alabama on the final play of the game.

Fisher and the Tigers didn’t stop with the passing game in 2005, as running back Joseph Addai rushed for 911 yards and nine scores for the Tigers as LSU ranked among the best in the SEC in scoring (29.5 points per game) and total offense (374.1 yards per game).

Fisher’s 2004 offense featured a running game that led the SEC in rushing as the Tigers, behind running backs Alley Broussard, Justin Vincent and Addai, averaged 193.8 yards per game.

Fisher's 2003 offense may have been the best from a production standpoint as the Tigers averaged 34 points per game on their way to scoring a school-record 475 points while also setting the school standard for total yards (5,857), first downs (298), completed passes (255) and passing touchdowns (30).

In all, LSU averaged 418 yards per contest as the Tigers took advantage of their skill position weapons in Michael Clayton, Devery Henderson and Skyler Green, who combined for 179 receptions, 2,459 yards and 27 touchdowns. "

fisher would be good. never know how well a great coordinator will turn out as a head coach though. he would be my 1b behind Johnson but I still would by very happy to have him. Great recruiter.

I've been interested in getting Fisher since I first saw his name thrown in the mix and saw the list of his credentials. If we can get a solid DC to join him I think we'd be set.

From what i've heard, if Fisher comes then he would bring the DC from Auburn. If that's the case then we could be set.

With Cowher out of the picture, we should hire Jimbo NOW.

I strongly disagree with taking a knee-jerk reaction and going for the opposite of Amato simply because he didn't work out. The fact that he doesn't have HC experience does NOT mean that he isn't the best candidate with the biggest upside. All indications about Jimbo are that he isn't just a recruiter, he can flat out coach, he has big game experience at the top level of college, and I believe he will address both sides of the football.

If it really is true about fisher and the dc from auburn then let's save ourself the embrassment of another coaching search and sign him right now.

I was hoping that Fowler could get an actual HC, somebody with experience on getting young gollege kids walking a straight line.

^^^ that'd be pretty sweet, HC experience or no. Especially if he's already expressed interest in the job, we don't end up like we did in the spring looking like the ugly desperate kid at the high school dance (and thats not a knock on sid, but we were made to look like fools for a few weeks there).
