I think bama is a bit like the UNC of the SEC, as in.....they can do whatever the fuck they want, when they want.....

no real links, this is just a rumor

yesterday, bama folks seemed convinced that they were getting Rich Rod, but it seems that a large offer, specified in my first post, has been made to "the visor" with a large sum to get top assistants, and the potential to be AD when all is said and done....

we shall see, but this is majorly relevant to us in that USC will be a very direct competitor for coaches, albeit we have a bit of a head start, and they will be in a bit of shock for at least a week or so!

^ well, the AD part ruins that rumor... he would NEVER want to be one, ever ever, he hates all the extra shit you have to do as a HC already

^ i dont think the AD offer is part and parcel to the contract, just think it will be there for him should he want it, seems as it would be a nice fallback, and why not have it there for you, should you decide to change your mind in 10 years or so

if you hire some hardworking assistant AD's that job can be made a bit easier

there are multiple coaching searches going on, and it is being noticed, and opined on by the sports world and message boards, i am just throwing things out there to discuss, none of these rumors/coaching speculations can be proven until the AD shakes a hand at a presser, until then, this type of thread is for mere speculation and discusssion, be a little more relaxed and enjoy

many a thread has been made with much less substance than this one.....

well I mean I KNEW bama had made an offer to him and I knew he had rejected it.. That wasn't so top secret.. But the news that there is a press conference tomorrow saying he is going to Bama is well either NEW or bullshit.

"Spurrier out of mix?
Thursday, November 30, 2006
IAN R. RAPOPORT and RAY MELICK
News staff writers
TUSCALOOSA - University of South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier has told people close to him that he will not take the vacant head coaching job at the University of Alabama, multiple sources told The Birmingham News on Wednesday.

Some UA officials remained hopeful late Wednesday that they could still persuade Spurrier, but he has said in recent private conversations that he is not interested because members of his family recently moved to Columbia, S.C., and Spurrier promised them he would stay at least five years, according to several people close to Spurrier and the Gamecocks football program. Spurrier is completing his second season at South Carolina.

Meanwhile, Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore has enlisted the services of Chuck Neinas, president of Neinas Sports Services, to assist in the search for a new head coach.

Isn't there some kind of conflict of interest with finding all these coaches for him?
