Looks pretty good from the trailers. I thought the chemistry between the actors in Shaun was quite good, and it looks like most of them made it back to this movie.

So I was a little sad that Dylan Moran wasn't going to be in it... but then I got totally stoked because Bill Bailey is in it. I'll definitely check it out.

It's coming out the same day as the 300.

Looks like I'll be spending the weekend at Mission Valley.

^^what kind of knee jerk reaction is that? it's not like the movie is about some massacre at a college. would you be happy if they took every single piece of film, tv, and print off the shelves?

^^^

I'm not saying that they shouldn't release it. (Hell, I probably watch it this weekend.) I'm just saying it is just very bad timing for the movie to open and will likely flop because of it.

If this movie doesn't do well (by your def.) it's not because of what happened this week, it's because of a couple of reasons...

one reason being that the movie is only being released to about 700 theaters nation wide... THAT AINT SHIT.

The average release is somewhere around 2,500-4,000. So if you check Sunday night what the top grossing films are, and you read that Fracture made 26 Million and Hot Fuzz only made 8 Million, that's still pretty good considering a lot of things..

such as the previously mentioned limited release
most people in the country aren't familiar with the stars of this film
Cult classics, even after their DVD release and popularity pics up (ex. super troopers) don't always do well with follow ups ...

And one last thing. There is more evidence to suggest that after tragedies comedy movies do better. Trust me, I know these things. I've been working at movie theaters for 8 years.
I remember after 9/11 the number one movie was Hardball. The fucking Keanu Reeves coaches baseball movie. Why, because people wanted to get away from their TV's and living rooms and wanted to go out for a laugh.

If you guys are fans of the guys who did Shaun of the Dead and Hott Fuzz, I would recommend trying to see a few episodes of this show they made in England called "Look Around You". It is a parody of educational shows shown in schools in the 70s and 80s. I'm pretty sure they have some on youtube.

Just got back from seeing it and I must say... WOW, it was good. It was really good. It was so ridiculously over the top that it was just amazing. I was laughing my ass off the ENTIRE time. I honestly don't think there are that many guns in all of England.

Saw it this weekend at Brier Creek. It was awesome.

Treat yourself and see it with a good crowd.

They parody everything from He-Man to Bad Boys 2. Fans of Shaun Of The Dead be on the look out for a lot of the cast to return and even look for some things that were in the Pub show up in this movie.

I got to admit though I was totally unprepared on how the movie panned out. I had not seen the latest trailer so I thought it was your standard uptight cop vs. local street smart cop. Trust me the last 30 minutes will have you rolling!

I think I had been following this movie too much. I had been keeping up with it since the first teaser (I really enjoyed Shaun of the Dead and most of their work) was released and I think the trailers just gave too many of the good parts away.

Yeah the last 30 minutes were awesome, but without those last 30 minutes I don't think I would have found it that great of a movie.

Shaun of the Dead > Hot Fuzz

I want to watch it again soon, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping. I really wish I wouldn't have seen any trailers for this.

that movie was so badass. I went in sort of being dragged to it, but man it's really great. Starts off a bit dry and british but it gets better and better and funnier as it goes. The ending is hilarious.

Gotta see shaun of the dead now...

Yeah it (obviously) draws lots of parallels with Shaun of the Dead like how they have the sudden slow down/speed up shots and the foreshadowing at the beginning. It took me a few times in Shaun of the Dead to notice that they foreshadow the entire movie at the beggining when Ed is telling him about all the drinking they could do. I can't remember exactly what he says, but he says something about hitting some Bloody Mary's (the nurse zombie in the back garden's nametag said Mary I think) and going back to the Winchester for some shots. In Hott Fuzz I loved how he did the same thing ****SPOILERS***** when he was like "Have you ever jumped in the air while firing two guns? Have you ever jumped in the air while firing one gun? Have you ever fired a gun in a car chase? Have you ever been in a high speed car chase? Have you ever shot your gun into the air in frustration while laying on your back?" and then they did all of those.
