I'm selling my car to someone that lives in SC, I live in Charlotte. I guess the NC title application form will not work. Has anyone done this before? I think I'm over complicating it.

I believe you don't have to do anything, sign over the title to the guy, and when he goes to the dmv to get the car registared he will be charged with out of state title switch. I could be completely wrong, but that is what happened when my friend bought a car in NC and went to get a VA licence plate.

what i've found says I need to provide a "bill of sale" and a disclosure statement.

I printed one off of the internet. The title is being held by nissan since it's still financed so I guess that complicates it some.

It depends on who the company is. Some will trust you and some won't. If they release the title it will be essentially an unsecured loan to them. Normally they have the title so if you don't pay they just yoink the car.

Other companies require the money to be given to them and then they will release the title to you or the other party.
