Who would they be this year now that the final bowls and rankings are out?

I'm going with 8 teams since that seems the most feasible, go 12-16 if you want

1.Ohio State vs. 8.Wisconsin

1/8 winner vs 4/5 winner

4.LSU vs. 5.Louisville

winners play for title

2.Florida vs. 7.Boise State

2/7 winner vs 3/6 winner

3.Michigan vs. 6.USC

Let the 7-5 teams have their bullshit bowls, but make 7 games that really count, not just 1

also notre dame would have to get in for the money they'd make, but fuck em in my bracket

I'd make it a 6 team playoff:

Round 1:
Byes: Ohio State and Michigan
#3 Florida vs. #6 Louisville (in the swamp)
#4 LSU vs #5 USC (@ LSU)

Round 2:
UF/UL @ Michigan
LSU/USC @ Ohio St.

yeah i guess boise and wisconsin are significantly worse than then top 6

but two teams with byes would cause almost as much drama as which 2 get to play for the title

plus a bye team would just have to win 1 game to be in the title game

in the NFL there another round, so 6 teams with 2 byes isnt as lopsided

Just have an "and 1" game. As it stands...

OSU vs. Florida
Michigan vs. USC

Winners play the following week. Case closed.

I like your bracket except out with Wisconsin in with ND, because I'd keep the rule of only 2 teams from 1 conference making it.

Would also put Louisville at 6, USC at 5.

1OSU v 8ND
4LSU v 5USC
2UF v 7Boise
3UM v 6UL

In George Mason like fashion, Boise beats UF and then UM, but then loses to LSU in the Championship game.

^It should be USC vs. tOSU and UM vs. UF, 1v4, 2v3. Winners play.

I think a good way if it were 8 teams, would be have the top 4 seeds host the first game, then have a doubleheader for the semifinals (that way we can fill a stadium since not many people can travel on one week's notice, than the national championship game at a neutral site.

Well I used the formerly I-AA system in another thread, heres the revamped after conference champs were decided and final BCS standings. Basic setup is conference champs + 5 at large, however you must have at least an 8-4 record to qualify (hence Sun Belt champ Troy is left out). BCS standings are used to determine at-large, BCS conference champs host first round, and games are based on region rather than seed (making it easier for visiting team fans to travel).

Brigham Young (10-2, MWC Champ) at #1 Ohio State (12-0, Big Ten Champ)
Notre Dame (10-2, At Large) at Louisville (11-1, Big East Champ)

Houston (10-3, C-USA Champ) at #4 LSU (10-2, At Large)
Arkansas (10-3, At Large) at Oklahoma (11-2, Big XII Champ)

Central Michigan (9-4, MAC Champ) at #3 Michigan (11-1, At Large)
Boise State (12-0, WAC Champ) at USC (10-2, PAC-10 Champ)

Wisconsin (11-1, At Large) at #2 Florida (12-1, SEC Champ)
Auburn (10-2, At Large) at Wake Forest (11-2, ACC Champ)

Basically, regular season/conference championships finish up the last weekend of November, then you can have the semifinals done by December 17th, followed by the title game after the New Year, PLUS the losers could still go to a bowl game, as theres no way you can just do away with the bowls period. Im not against the 8-team bracket either, but the 16-team just seems a lot more fun, and who wouldnt want to see Boise State vs USC? Having byes seems somewhat pointless to me though...youre going to have to have a week for those first round teams to play, so all of them might as well play.

4 teams is the most reasonable given conference championships and everything. It's just 2 extra games for the winner and can be done in two weeks.

1. Ohio State v. 4. LSU
2. Florida v. 3. Michigan

yeah, let's do 4 teams. that way we can REALLY screw over the smaller conferences. I can't remember, are they in the same league or not?

1. OSU V 8. Wake
4. Louisville V 5. USC
2. FL V 7. Boise
3. UM V 6. Oklahoma

I like 8 because all the BCS conference champions can go plus there is room for any small schools who go undefeated and at large teams that are good but didnt win their conference

again, I guess Boise just isn't in the same football league as everyone else. Thus, they don't deserve a shot at the NC.

They would have to put Notre Dame in a playoff if not for anything else because they are Notre Dame.

I like the 8-team idea the best. You have to make it the same for every year. You cannot just say well there are four good teams this year and have a 4-team playoff. I think that is the main issue with the playoff. How many teams make it? Where are the games played? etc.

shut the fuck about a playoff people. its never going to happen. the logical thing (which they are talking to add as soon as next year) to do would be a plus one clause. if there are not 2 undefeateds at the top of rankings then #2 vs #3 and the winner plays #1

If you don't understand then here is what the recent endings would look like under the future system.

06 florida vs michigan

vs ohio state

05 texas vs usc

04 oklahoma vs auburn

vs usc

03 lsu vs usc

vs oklahoma

02 ohio state vs miami

maybe my idea is shitty but i have had a couple drinks

how about each team with 0 or 1 loss is eligible for a playoff..i realize that there could be no set number, but then you can give the higher ranked teams a bye if need be.

The way to keep teams from scheduling cupcakes to get a good record would be to use require teams to play a certain strength of schedule and that could be calculated easily using a computer.

By doing this, not only would you get to see teams like Florida play teams other than Western Carolina, but you'd also ensure no cupcakes for "national title contenders"

undefeated and one loss teams from this season

Ohio State
Michigan
Florida
Louisville
Wisconsin
Boise

They have a better shot of making it with 4 teams then the current system which will never have a mid-major.

4 team playoff or a +1 game is the only realistic way a playoff is going to happen. Do you really think that you can tack on 3 extra games to the end of the season???? fogitaboutit

got to have playoffs, and i like the 16-team version. all the conference champs should be in.

if D-1A and D-11 and D-111 can do it, and every other sport, so can d-1 fb

I've been saying this for years. Simple to implement & it doesn't alter any bowls. I would put Boise State in place of LSU however, since they are undefeated. Two losses is one too many to really be considered for a title.

But when has there been more than 4 teams that actually deserve to be included in the title picture? Generally, it's only 2-3.
