definitely, there are no reviews for our kennel, just the vets, i don't know if that is good or bad.
i actually manage the kennel at mayfair (was a receptionist for over a year until october), but we recommend greenlevel when we fill up, and we are small so we fill up fast.
(greenlevel sends us goodies a lot, we ♥ them)

trust me, they weren't trying to gouge you for money, we offer a lot of things that many other vets don't, and yes, it costs money, but we're merely trying to provide the best possible care available. We have a lot of clients with tons of money and a lot with no money, and they rarely complain. If you make an attempt to work something out, it normally can be done.
As far as poop being on your dogs nose after boarding, you have to understand the dog is not on it's normal potty schedule so it's going to have accidents (at any place you go). granted, whoever brought your dog up should have cleaned it off beforehand if they noticed it, but you know your dog better than we do. (plus, if you had said anything, i'm sure it would have been cleaned up)

not to harp on parkway, but i was consistently dissappointed with them, not just this time but the sh*t on her face was the last straw........the next time we took her to town and country, she smelled like cinammon when we picked her up...apparently they gave her a bath and tied some cute little bows to her....all free.........so night and day..just saying12/5/2006 12:59:09 PM |
93formula All American 1338 Posts user info edit post |
^hate to break it to ya, but they didn't give your dog a bath for free just for the heck of it, your dog took a dump all over itself and was filthy so they bathed it, i guess we just expect owners to understand that they're there for boarding, not at the spa...
so basically, you're dog is filthy while it boards...NO vet will bathe a dog for free just "because" 12/5/2006 7:19:17 PM |
krazedgirl All American 2578 Posts user info edit post |
my dog isn't dumb enough to take a dump on herself...if they let her out she would have done her deed...regardless, the question is not how she got dump on herself.....the point is they bathed her for free because of that.....so that she would be presentable when picked up....at the very least, wiping it off would be nice....
but you're basically saying, expect to pick your dog up filthy after a boarding .....it sounds like you work at parkway and your attitude above just justified my reason for not going there

at carrboro plaza veterinary clinic we have a list of about 20 local (to the chapel hill, carrboro, durham area) boarding places. call your vet and ask maybe. 12/5/2006 8:17:31 PM |

no, i'm saying that someone didn't see the poop on your dog when you picked up from parkway. it would have been cleaned up if it was noticed. If a dog makes itself filthy, then yes, we will bathe it, your dog just evidently wasn't THAT dirty. Sounds like to me that your dog peed and pooped on itself because it's not in it's normal schedule and small dogs don't adjust well to that. I'm sure they took your dog out, but not as many times as you take it out.
i didn't mean to say expect your dog to be filthy, but you SHOULD understand that being boarded is stressful to the pet and accidents happen because they are out of their normal environment. NOBODY is trying to screw you over or steal your money, because a small business would never survive if it did that. You just don't understand the business, that's all.
btw, yes i work at parkway and i may or may not have been there when you went there, so I don't know what any particular situations were that made you upset. I do know, however, that we try very hard to please every client even when they are being complete assholes and start making blind accusations. If your needs were not met, I will assume though that you did not express properly what your needs were, because if you had, we would have tried our best to meet them. 12/5/2006 8:21:11 PM |

i would have expected them to inspect or smell her after taking her out of the crate and handing her to me....i didn't react to it initially b/c i thought it was normal and didn't want to create a fuss.....but this was 4 years ago and things may have changed dramatically since. 12/5/2006 9:32:24 PM |

At CPVC we had a dog go through 3 of our runs & 2 bathes when it was just staying for one day b/c of its diarrhea issues no matter how many times we took it out. We usually do free bathes when a dog makes itself messy.
^^I have heard of vet clinics that are in populated enough area's that they can keep clients coming despite bad service. I don't want to throw any names around. But when I first moved over to the carrboro area, the one vet clinic that was closest that I was going to take my cats to, apparently has had news agencies show up to their boarding facilities to show pets in bad conditions without food or water or supervision on the local evening news.
But as a general rule of thumb, probably most small businesses aren't out to get you. 12/9/2006 3:21:06 PM |

There's no excuse for an animal being dirty or going home with anything on it's body. I work at a boarding facility with 130 kennels and I am constantly checking every dog to make sure their area is super clean and they look healthy/clean. It's not good for anything to be playing around in it's filth and it's pitiful to see people at a vet/boarding facility using the dog as an excuse for why it's acceptable to send a dirty dog home. I'm wondering how big your kennels are if they get dirty so easily, a small dog should have plenty of room to avoid any mess up they happened to make. You are getting paid to keep someone's animal whom they love very much in a sanitary place away from their own wastes. Your statements alone have convinced me enough to never use Town and Country or recommend that vet to anyone for boarding purposes. Thanks! 12/9/2006 10:08:24 PM |

We always use pupsi for both of our dogs. Unlike most vets, your dog won't be in a crate for 23 hours a day. The dogs are all out playing all day, and only caged at night.
Our dogs actually get visibly excited when we pull in to the parking lot. Previously, they'd start cowering when we pulled up at the vet... 12/10/2006 10:39:37 AM |

Elise -my bad. My point was this poster wasn't making a very good case for himself. Some things are inexcusable and to lay off responsibility and blame innocent animals who are jsut being animals is pathetic and maybe they should consider a different career move before they ruin their place of business by opening their mouths.
crate is usually different from kennel. Crate is like 2x2x2...or whatever. The kennels we have anyway are 4x8, 4x14, or 8x14, that's enough room for most sized dogs. It's like calling a room a crate! Crazy!
Dogs being den-like love the security of four walls close together. Also at your place I hope you have strict evualation standards that run a long time to see what the dog is really like before utting them in a huge pack situation. I've seen lots of sweet dogs turn into monsters and become nippy during doggie daycamp.
One day I wanna open up my own daycamp facility!
