I didn't get this so called "formal invitiation" to pick up my ring Saturday. Are we supposed to dress up?

Anyone know if we can just go pick it up sometime rather than sit through the ceremony? I really have other stuff I need to do that day...

I talked with bookstore and alumni center. The rings are at the alumni center and they won't let us pick them up early (I tried). They told me its supposed to last from 5-6pm on Saturday and that if we can't make it, it'll be in the bookstore Monday. I am trying to decide if I want to wait or not.

It's a stupid gimmick. I know where I went to school. I have a degree to prove it. I don't need some rip-off supposed status symbol, and I really don't care where anyone else went to college.

So your theory suggests that anyone sporting a NCSU sticker on a vehicle has given into a gimmick. I do understand, though, that this gimmick is a bit more expensive.

Only if you believe you really NEED it or that it is REQUIRED. Personally, I am proud of being an NCSU alumni and a ring is one way to show it.

And to be fair, my parents always told me if I didnt get a V-letter jacket or HS ring (which I never wanted anyways) they would pay half. Considering my three older brothers got nothing as a graduation present (which we all shouldnt) I'll take this as a gift from my parents and appreciate it that way as well.

In any case, I wonder what food they will have at the reception. Beer?

I wanted a class ring. I was saving up for one for my senior year. Then they took all the personalizing options out of the equation and blocked other companies from making them. Having my greek letters, my major, my school, my name and maybe some other club stuff if it could fit would have made it worth the money, but its not worth the money for something no more individualized than generic humanities student which makes me think their new contract was designed with $ in mind rather than students.
