i have a netgear (wg311v3?) pci wireless card in my desktop and my wireless keeps cutting off for no reason and then would not recconect. it has been doing this it more and more often lately, now it does it like three times a day. to fix it i have to restart my computer, and then it works beautifully again. when it is connected, the signal strength is medium to strong. router is a linksys. network is not authenicated. i have been trying both the netgear wireless assistant software and connecting with the regular windows built-in deal, neither one will connect when this happens.

anyone have any idea what's going on?

first i'd uninstall all the netgear software except for the driver. I've seen that software cause problems just being installed.

Second I'd check your power saving options on the card. It would be in the card's advanced properties in device manager. Make sure thats off.

I had a US robotics doing that to me. Turns out it was the slot on the motherboard it was in. I moved it from there and it never had it again. It probably was an IRQ conflict but I didn't wanna mess with it.

That was on a KR-7A Raid motherboard.

1.) make sure you're not sharing channels with someone else
2.) check power-saving options...that damnable "feature" is fuck-tarded (as mentioned above)
3.) swap PCI slots (as mentioned above)
4.) believe it or not, when it's on, i can find my microwave on netstumbler...no suggestion, just saying
