New Arcade Fire album due out in March. Here's the studio version of Intervention (this song has been played live a number of times). Recorded off of the radio so its not the best quality.

aha, ok, so you can call this number and hear it: 1-866-NEON-BIBLE ext. 7777

Aha this is kind of hilarious.

I like this song almost as much as I like Bryony.

last I'd heard they were calling it quits, or maybe that was just a rumor. Either way, a new album is certainly welcome.

Can a band become hilariously grandiose when they already are? I feel like "hilariously grandiose-r" isn't quite right.

The second half of the song is all right, but that applies to Andrew W.K. songs, too, so I don't know how I feel about this.

Hrmm, I'm not sure what to think - but I get the feeling that they feel pretty important after nailing it on their last record.

Better be careful they don't go to over the top - but the melody and feel when the drums kick in is quite awesome so i'm optimistic.

i know expectations are going to WAY to high for this album, but they should be. not only was funeral such an amazing album, but they also put on the best live show i've ever seen

I am in love with one of the live versions that I heard on the Internet a long time ago, especially with the dominant presence of Owen Pallett's violin.

Link to a live copy: http://www.sendspace.com/file/jzcu32

Maybe the version Cif82 uploaded is, like he said, such a bad rip that I'm not getting a good first impression of studio version. It just seems like the music, especially the organ, is overpowering or just too much. The organ does sound cool though

maybe it was because i was naked at the time, but i did get goosebumps when i first heard the organ.

that's probably because the frequecy of the phone and compression on that file is so damn scrunched all you are hearing are the mid-treble ranges....which is all organ baby. It would sound 100x better with a medium that had at least a .01% low freq. response for bass and drums, and bottom end on everything.

That being said, I wouldn't be suprsied that even when hearing an authentic mix of this that they intentionally over-mixed the organs because they feel proud and geeked out to get a chance to use them. They practically spent an assload renting/borrowing one of the most impressive pipe organs available (Montreal's Jean Baptiste church) so I guess the artsy fartsy in them couldn't resist. I only think they are using it for a couple of songs, that one on the phone being one of them.

I'm having a love affair with this song.

I'm totally scanning Craigslist for pipe organs.

if you have a midi-controller and a decent soundcard I have software and samples that are damn fine... and about 1000 sq. feet less hassle than a real pipe organ.

FUCK YOU AND YOUR DIGITAL BULLSHIT.

Certain churches are pretty cool about letting you use their organ during the week if you can prove that you know what you're doing.

A computer is nothing like a mellotron.

A Lo-Fi Loop Junky kinda is, though.

Of course they are digital stored on computer but the medium they were recorded isn't. They sound really good especially with the right efx. They've gotten so much better about removing the tinny digital nature of stuff nowadays.

But I know how hard it is to convince analog purists so I'm not even going to try...I was one once, til I realized you couldn't afford to hold standards like that anymore unless you wanted to run a museum and spend $texas.

For guitars and stuff i'm still pro-tube or nothing so I can relate.

Yeah, I used to have a prophet. SC Prohet 600....not the flagship model and all, but it was really cool .

Sold it though b/c although it was great at sweeps and blips, efx, randomness. The strings on it were shallow and it only had like 6 voices i think.

I bought an ION, liked that for a while.

I use a Clavia Nord Lead 2x, and it does plenty fine by my standards.

But, back on topic, this song = teh winz.

The first single is "Black Mirror". You can listen to it here: http://arcadefire.com/yope.html Click "Win" and then the first entry.

Strange choice for a first single. Intervention is a much more straight forward song with awesome pipes throughout. Sounds like AF are trying everything on this album.

damn that song kicks ass. Not really a 'single' but they don't really need a single for this album to successful.

100 dollars says Bowie is proclaiming this is the best record ever again. Maybe they'll do a combo tour.
