In their ongoing quest to burn the retinas of anyone who watches them, the Oregon Ducks have unveiled the newest part of their continually changing look: helmets that change color depending on the angle from which they are seen. I'm glad no one's told them about Hypercolor t-shirts.

The Ducks aren't sure yet if they'll wear them for their bowl game. They'd like to, but they've only received helmets for about half the team. I guess Nike's running low on color-changing crazy motherfucker paint.

The plan appears to be the wear the new helmets along with their bright yellow jerseys and bright yellow pants when they take on BYU. I thought you should know now, so you'd have time to run to your optometrist before the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl on December 21st.

Within two years, I predict Oregon will be taking the field in uniforms that make them invisible."

Good thing we don't have these...Our QBs have enough trouble throwing it to the right color team without our helmets changing colors.

In related news, Nike once thought good ideas for sports team names were the Kansas City Wiz, Dallas Burn, Miami Fusion, Tampa Bay Mutiny, and Chicago Rhythm.

Needless to say, Nike's marketing department are a bit out of touch with reality.

I think they're hot

but the flame job is questionable

I like 'em without the "O" - and the helmets are 1000x better than the jerseys

EDIT: Just noticed the protruding "O" in the middle of the front - it's the same place where "ACC" is on our helmets and "Riddell" on NFL ones

please no. I don't need the football team lookng like a motorcycle. Plus, candy red isn't a NC State color.

I honestly believe that within Nike there is a bet to see how long it will take before Oregon says no to their stupid ideas.

if i remember correctly, its the team that wants (and helps design) the uniforms like this...they take pride in being different from everyone else. im sure nike offers some suggestions, but in the end, nike just does what its told.

Artical spoke of the helmets possibly not being ready for the bowl game but they have'em.
Sportcenter just did a hole blip on the Oregon unies and they did a lead in for the game. Showed the players sportin' the new lids. I like'em but agree they aren't for everybody. It def. took a bit of time for my eyes to adjust. :

anyone notice that when the helmets get gashed in a hit the color becomes dark green (a little lighter than their old helmets)

just an observation, nothing really worthwhile was in this post

If they stick with those helmets for 15 years, they'll become classic.

However, Nike likes to change everything every year, so that's not happening.
