i just got a ds and got this game to play on it. i'd never played this particular zelda game before. i was up to the east palace after a few hours of play and noticed i was dying too often than i should be so i looked online for a guide. it said i should have so many items/heart pieces before the east palace. so i erased my saved game and just figure i'll start over fresh. should i have just gone back to the house/sanctuary and found what i needed or start fresh since i'm not far into the game? any thoughts?

go back and find some items. 90% of a zelda game is finding the secrets to help continue on in the game. you're defeating the whole experience if you are consulting a guide.

^^^
Isn't that the Link to the Past edition that they released on GBA? If so, I thought every kid beat that on the SNES.

^Then you missed out, cause LttP was an incredible game.

And let me know if you finish the 3-heart challenge on TP Matt, that would be very impressive, haha.

I thought LttP was on regular gameboy. I remember playing it a loooong time ago. needless to say I never beat the damn thing.

I don't think you can have a 3-heart challenge on that game or the original Zelda. You automatically get the new heart container or have to get it to advanec... actually I don't know, I've always just gotten it. Interesting.

For the original though you have to have 12 hearts to get the Master Sword and I'm pretty sure you need the Master Sword to beat the game. Honestly I don't know if that's true. I think this post might be a waste.

Link to the Past is an awesome game and I envy you that you are able to play it for the first time. I wish I could do that over again. Classic.
