So I just turned in about 15 overdue books (by a few days), and am hoping they tag 'em before they start charging me $texas. Does anyone know how long circulation takes to process incoming books after finals are over?
I'm gonna beat y'all to it so you can jump straight to answering my question: I'm clumsy, I'm insane, I'm ugly, I'm a moron, I'm fucked. If I missed anything, I'll be counting on you to fill in the blank. >.< 12/21/2006 10:39:22 AM |

if you dropped them off at the library they came from, they should be checked in by the end of the day. and IIRC they only bill you if they are 30 days over due. otherwise you just drop them off. 12/21/2006 1:36:29 PM |

It takes a while to incur charges at DH Hill. Patrons are sent emails on the date that books become overdue. 10 days later, another email is sent with a strong warning about charges. I'm not sure how long a person has after this point, but I would'nt push it.
About circulation, books are picked up several times a day from book drops and are almost immediately checked in. Books dropped off after regular hours are checked in the following morning, and are checked in as if they were returned the day before. 12/28/2006 6:10:03 PM |

It's two months after the due date before they start charging you for the books ($100 replacement; $25 non-refundable processing fee). The bookdrops are checked several times a day and circulation will discharge the books immediately— all the sitting around is getting the books reshelved. If you ever want to hold on to the books and there aren't holds on them you can get them checked back out at the desk. 1/1/2007 1:15:03 PM |
