My sister will be going to ECU next semester and is looking at apartments for her and her 2 friends...they've found University Suites in Greenville and like the place, gym, pool, free bus, all that good stuff. My sister is trying to find out if its a good place, as in quiet. She said it doesn't exactly have good access to the downtown G'ville scene so its not as easy to come stumbling in late at night which suggests quieter.

(No I won't post pics)

Anyone here have any idea? I would go to part yeast but there's a 5.00 registration free or something and you have to register to search for 'apartments'.

Pirates cove isnt bad
even out towards the golf course, i cant remember the name of it but my buddies live there and its like a 5 min drive...something berry

basically the best thing to do is drive down there and look around...thats what i advise.

i tell you what. I lived in Tar River townhomes when I went to ECU a few years back. The bus picked me up right infront of my front door. There was a pool, tanning bed, work out room, way close to campus/downtown and I even think some of it has been converted into a park (from where some homes were condemned from the hurricane). Anyway, tar river estates is my recommendation. Most other places are gonna be straight up ghetto. I can't remember where university suites is- but if it's down near pirate's cove and what not then it's far from campus....however i think I remember a bus route going down there.

Dude Pirates Cove was the bomb. And it's on the busline. A++.

It's a bit expensive and you get 3 roomates - dunno if she can swing that.

But it was the best apt I ever had.

Is she looking for quiet? Or downtown access?

Granted, I lived in PC when it was brand new. But cabs to and from downtown were cheap and there were enough people in PC to have your own parties, but it's pretty damn quiet.

^Omar, I pointed it out to her but it looked like a bunch of douches foolin around. I took it on myself to research for her since I knew a little more about forum atmosphere, you know, she being family and someone I'd help out. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, you got a problem then PM.

U Suites from what I can remember her saying is on a bus route as well as being somewhat in a out of the way place, nothing really around other than some townhomes. She pretty much just wants a nice quiet place to live, she's got a job down there waiting and isn't interested in the party scene. Pirates Cove is not a place she liked, the Exchange was very nice when her and her friends went and looked around the area.

Thanks a lot for the input, very useful.

^She's a little older than me and just looking for a quiet place, I dunno how much she wants downtown access but I'm sure when she would go out it wouldn't be too bad. It's her and 2 friends.

i live in greenville. The suites are nice if she wants that type of environment. It not quiet. There are parties out there all the time. The exchange is nice but they have a lot of parties out there too. If she is looking for somewhere that she can do work I would suggest someplace where not a lot of students live. I live in Stratford Arms in a 2 bedroom townhouse and it's really quiet out here. She shouldn't worry about how close a place is to downtown because safe ride can pick them up and take them home. I think she should look into some place else. University Terrance, Wimbolton court, Arlington park and place away from campus are much better. And almost all the complexes in greenville have bus service to campus

Tar River Estates was pretty much party central. I used to quite a bit of work there. Good times.

Why not rent a house? Houses in Greenville are pretty cheap. And there's tons of rentals right by campus.

I can search partyeast for you if you desperately want it... just PM me

^ I think so - had a lot of friends there.

Wilson Acres is ... I didn't live there but my boyfriend did and when I'd go pick him up and what not I really didn't like it there.

U suites is good, U suites is bad...lol. Sounds like it isn't what she's looking for, I'll let her know what you have said. One of her friends is looking at houses and that may be a viable option along with Exchange and Turtle Creek. Thanks all!

My friends have lived at River Point Village and North Campus (Crossing, maybe?). Both of those they've liked.

I still say a house is the best option. Jarvis, Student, Biltmore, all those streets have some kick ass rentals. Apartments suck.

For reference, Pirates Cove is JUST like Wolf Village on the inside. Cheap wood doors, gross carpet.

Pirates Cove was hella nice when I lived there, but like I said, I lived there when it first opened up so it was all new. But that shit is furnished!

Good luck, and PS- just from my experience down there your much better off renting from an individual then a complex or a big property managment

[Edited on December 28, 2006 at 3:00 PM. Reason : Drive around g-ville. Youll find a ton of shit for rent. ]

PCove is crappy.

They built this place off Charles I think which is similar to PCove in that you have have up to 4 roomies or as few as 2 I think? But its brand new, gated, and looked to be pretty nice inside. It wasnt open the last time I was there (in the spring) but if you're looking for something with all inclusive rent Id check that out before PCove.

Or Id suggest getting a house. Its not expensive and they'd have more room...

For several years, I had a two story, 3 bedroom house at the corner of Student St. and Johnson for $325/month. I think the bench seating on the roof that I built is still there. 1.5 blocks to campus (by the art school), and a 4 minute walk to downtown. Good times.

just wanted to say haaaay to all the ECU Alumn / students

btw, I lived in The Trellis for two years. loved it there, but it's not all that close to downtown so I had to cab it a bit. So worth it for the decrease in rent. Plus I never had to deal with the drunk assholes on weekdays. If I ever wanted to deal with that I would just go visit friends at PCove. From what I heard University Suites is nice.
