that was some of the most impressive coaching down the stretch I've ever seen. even when the team started coming apart at the seams, the coach stayed composed and adjusted accordingly.

In a way it further helps the BCS argument though because this game and the controversy surrounding it will create a greater buzz for the national title game as people will be even more interested into who will win.

no. imo great game, but it was a bowl game and got up for it. Sure, they played some great football (as well as OU). But if they had played a tougher regular season schedule I don't think they would be an undefeated or possibly even 1 loss team at this point.

probably so, but beating oklahoma erases who they played during the regular season because now everyone knows they are for real.

how does people being interested in who will win the bcs mean it works as a way to decide the nat'l champ?

as it were, despite my thread, even if bsu does somehow end up 1 in the ap, i will not call them natl champ b/c that would mean accepting the douchebag media's crowning of usc as nat'l champ while ignoring lsu.

what i will do, however, is use it as more evidence that the bcs is stupid

usc would claim ap #1 before Boise State anyways, this argument is lame.

yeah, a team that lost to UCLA and Oregon State deserves it so much more than them

but none of this matters. It may not be fair to make BSU #1 if OSU loses, but the BCS is fucking stupid anyway, so why not

^yea i wasnt trying to discredit their great win. theres just no way i would vote them the number 1 team in the country for the whole season. simply because they only played 5 teams who finished above .500 the entire year, including this bowl game.

(and yes my obligatory, the BCS is really really stupid).

prediction:

boise state wont be top 4 after all the games are done.

michigan, usc, ohio state, florida, lsu, and wisconsin will more than likely be in front of BSU.

How does help for playoff argument? This just makes it worse. Does Boise make a 4-team playoff? No. Does Boise make a 6-team playoff? No. They wouldn't have even made an 8-team playoff because they were still ranked #9. Im at a loss of what the BCS should do.

Well like ^ above said, they were #8 in the last BCS rankings, which is why they got a BCS bowl in the first place. Plus, a proper playoff would include 16 teams anyhow, which would include conference champs, so yeah they would be in a playoff.

^Why? And please dont give me the tired old "theres only 4 teams at the most that deserve a shot" crap. 4-6 teams is not a playoff....or at least not a very good one.

because 16 teams would mean that teams like NOTRE DAME this season have a shot, aka the regular season is meaningless if you're a big team. the regular season being so important is what makes college football so great. go watch the nfl if you don't get it.

^^So just stick with the current system then. If you dont like a playoff system, then why argue one playoff system over another? Im ok with an 8-team playoff as well, as long as 6 of those spots go to conference champions (even Wake Forest) and a guarantee that a highly-ranked non-BCS team would make it in as well...but 16 teams seems to work in all other divisions of football, so why not here? If Notre Dame makes it but doesnt deserve to be in it, they will lose before its over. If they dont lose, then they deserved to be in it in the first place.

i didn't. IN FACT, to spoil your argument against me even more, my personal opinion is that i wish they'd get rid of the national championship game all together (i know, i'm crazy) and go back to traditional bowls being exactly that, traditional and prestigious. there's really no need to decide a #1 out of that many teams. that's just me, though, and i'm probably the only person alive that has this opinion.
