Long story short I was at my grandfather's funeral last tues (last week) and during the 4 hours I'm gone my house is robbed and they take all my electronics and some of the governments too (wife's job) but anywas I need a new laptop quickly before a trade show and can't decide weather to get the "glossy" or the "matte" on the apple powerbook 17" comments on either?

The glossy has been getting pretty good reviews, most people seem to like it.

But, it's really mostly a personal preference, and you should probably stop by an APple store adn decide for youserlf.

the glossy gives the impression that its a 'sharper' screen, however i find the glare to be annoying. i currently have a matte 15" macbook pro and love it.

We have both a matte and glossy Macbook Pro at my house.

Mine is the glossy and think it is so much better than matte. The gloss makes things more crisp and saturated, but you can get glare although it has never bothered me.

Matte is what any traditional computer monitor looks like. I just prefer glossy and absolutely love it.

I was in this same situation about a 3 months ago and thought I would regret getting glossy, but it's awesome.

Glare sucks. Go matte.

i can't speak for the macbook pro... but the glossy on my laptop is a noticeble difference over the matte on my lcd monitor...

i prefer the glossy.. it makes pictures/videos/games look a lot better than they do on the lcd... but as someone mentioned, there is a bit of glare, i've got it next to a window now and can see my reflection in it...

[Edited on January 14, 2007 at 4:39 PM. Reason : didn't read that you'd already ordered... sorry]
