2005 ford ranger 70k miles
the battery keeps dying. it has been into the shop multiple times where they have found nothing except for a tiny drain (couple milliamps). it can stay at the shop for a day or a week and start up no problem. as soon as it gets back to the office its dead by morning. tell me where else to look
as someone was leaving late one night they noticed that the door ajar warning on the dash was lit up but not the dome light. a dome light probably would have been noticed on an earlier time and i would assume that if this was the problem it would have happened at the shop on at least one of the trips. also we have another truck that has the common door ajar problem where the dome light was on and it stayed on all night on a few occasions without killing the battery. the battery was replaced a couple months ago. 1/3/2007 6:57:49 PM |

start by disconnecting the alternator and see if the problem goes away, then start yankin fuses 1/3/2007 8:48:10 PM |

i think the alternator was ruled out on the 2nd trip, but i'll have to check to be sure yanking fuses is how i found a drain after the first time it died, but i havent systematically yanked fuses and charged the battery and let it sit over night 1/3/2007 8:50:51 PM |

run a test light in series to the negative battery terminal and the negative cable end. if it glows then start yankin fuses till the light goes out 1/4/2007 9:58:04 AM |
