read that ^ page

the main things you need to do are

A) make sure your ipod settings are on TV Out

B) move the RCA cables to different spots on your TV. I think the red goes to yellow, etc etc

the reason this is an issue is b/c Apple tried to monopolize the market. They switched which section of the jack is video, audio, etc. They then released their own cable and said it was the only compatible cable, when in fact it just makes the "audio" cable become video, etc

Yes it is possible. The headphone port has a third connection in it that carries video. Follow the steps above, just play arround with the different connectors to find the one that carries video.

Well, the ebay page advertises use for the nano too. If you are using a nano, it does not have a "TV-out". It would play the audio though.

If you are using an ipod video, switch the cables around. I bought a cable at radio shack that worked fine for my ipod.

Also, if you want to go cheaper, there are other cables that look the same, just not specifically for ipod. All you have to do to make them work is switch the inputs around on your tv until you get both audio and video. Ipod changed up the jacks just to make more people go and buy their own ipod-advertised cables.

Actually, you're completely wrong.

It's impossible to make the same connector run headphones AND video without switching those two pins around.

basically, the audio out on the AV cable is the same audio connections that the headphone uses, but the connectors are reversed because that's how the spec is.

And they sell their own cable to avoid problems like this, where people match the colors up, then bitch that they don't work.

ok well that may be so, but when i was looking for one of these cables ~8 months ago, i remember reading something online from apple saying their cable was the only one that would work with this product, which is in fact false

second halo. Not too shabby on a rear projection big screen and a large LCD. Not HD, better than the best a video tape could do.
