I used the stuff after ephedra went off the market (xenadrine). Obviously, it didn't do as well but it wasn't bad. In my opinion, having taken a bunch of different types, I thought Redline did a pretty good job but there is a small crash. If you're looking for good energy when you need it (gym) and not much of a side effect, I would recommend NO Xplode. However, if you're looking to keep weight off and aren't so concerned about muscle mass, the Lipo should be fine. 1/6/2007 12:37:59 PM |

the product works very well, but the combination of ingredients isn't very good to provide to the general public. it contains caffeine, synephrine, and yohimbine. This combination is dangerous because the first two are amine based stimulants, while the yohimbine is a MAOI that inhibits the breakdown of amines in the body. there is no warning about this combination on the label that I'm aware of.
Some people handle stimulants very well, while with others it sends them into a dangerous state that can trigger anxiety attacks or irregular heartbeats. MAOIs like yohimbine multiply these effects drastically, especially in conjunction with MAOI-Bs like synephrine. If you know from previous experience that you can handle stimulants like amphetamines and high doses of ephedrine, then you're probably alright. If you don't like stimulants, then stay away from it.
My recommendation is to take yohimbine by itself, or get a topical product like Yohimburn DF. the effects of topical applications are not systemic, so you get the desired effect at the site of the fat you wish to burn and not as severely on the brain and adrenalin system.

if you're the do-it-yourself type, you can make your own yohimburn with USP-24 yohimbine HCL, caffeine, and either DMSO or aloe vera with peppermint oil. 1/6/2007 12:52:58 PM |

there are hundreds of people on fitness and dieting weight-loss forums that swear by this stuff, and the science is definitely there for topical fat reduction. Actually, I've never heard a bad review of yohimburn by anyone who's used it.
one problem with most oral fat burners is that they rely on the circulatory system to distribute the supplements throughout the body. unfortunately, there are areas of the body where fat deposits don't have many blood vessels to circulate supplements or even our natural fat burning bodily hormones for that matter. topical fat burners can bypass this problem by absorbing the chemicals directly into the area of the body where you want to melt away fat while doing cardio. they will help the fat cells release FFAs into the bloodstream at a much higher rate so that you can burn them off during exercise.
topical application of drugs is not a new concept; just look at the birth control patch, nicoderm products, hormone replacement creams and others for an example. most of these products absorb into the bloodstream and become systemic without having to be absorbed through the stomach. the reason these products become systemic so quickly is because their directions indicate that they should be applied in areas of the body without high fat content, such as the arm, hip line or the top of the foot. if topical products are applied in areas with high fat accumulation, they tend to stay localized and not systemic. For example, The Ortho Evra patch warns that their product is not very effective in overweight women. while not becoming systemic would be considered a failure with products like birth control or hormone replacement, that is exactly what we would want from a fat loss product like yohimbine that works at the fat cell.
I posted the following to someone that asked in PM, but I figured it would be good to add in here. the person was asking if topical products are bad for people who are overly sensitive to stimulants.
you might notice a slight stimulant effect from using topical fat-loss products containing stimulants, but it will be nowhere close to that delivered by oral products like lipo-6 or the old ephedra stacks. I currently use yohimburn before doing cardio, and I would equate the feeling as similar to drinking a soda. It's not the three shots of expresso feeling you get from most fat burners. Even still, I have noticed quite a difference since using this product combined with a restricted diet.
One bottle of Yohimburn will provide 120 sprays, and they recommend ~4 sprays per use. if you did cardio every day, that would last you a month. You are supposed to apply it to stubborn fat areas such as love handles, lower gut, chest, glutes, and hams approximately 20-30 minutes before doing cardio.
there is another product on the market called lipoderm ultra or lipoderm ODB, and they seem to be very similar to yohimburn in makeup. i haven't tried either of them, so you'll need to do your own research on them before making a decision. the only thing I read about them was an article involving a nutcase who added nicotine to a bottle of lipoderm ultra and said it worked great while being the most painful application he ever had to endure.

if you got a heart murmur, I'd definitely talk to a doctor first or avoid lipo-6 altogether.
you can order DMSO from just about anywhere, and aloe vera and peppermint oil are also available online or in almot any health food store. caffeine anhydrous and yohimbine are both available from chemical supply shops and research chem sites. I think http://www.pumpnpose.com carries both.

Wait, so the fat doesn't have enough blood cells around to get supplements and natural fat burners in, but they have enough to get FFAs out?

yohimbine dilates blood vessels, allowing for better blood flow. that doesn't happen very effectively when you dilute the concentration across the entire body. 1/18/2007 4:37:43 PM |

Man, do NOT take Lipo-6 at any cost.
I tried it for 10 days and lost 9lbs but the side effects were terrible.
I did not experience any jitters, but the headaches were horrible in which I felt my brain was about to explode inside my skull - I swear!
Needless to say, i threw the rest of the bottle in the trash. 1/19/2007 3:01:30 AM |
