[not a hollywood movie; british independent]

saw this last night. damn amazing.

it is like the irish version of CRASH [which i also liked very very much].

no plot, just random people going about their lives, seemingly unconnected to each other, but as the movie goes on, you realize they are all connected through a complex web. just like CRASH, no one goes to jail, but the crooks get their justice [except one of them!], and the good people get some kind of reward.

stars collin farrell, and some other kid i have seen before, but whose name i don't know. other stars unknown to me.

***VERY HEAVY IRISH accent on all actors***

who has seen it?

I haven't seen Crash but I'm fairly certain that Intermission is not the Irish version of Crash.

I'm almost positive that Intermission is the polar opposite of Crash.

Intermission is a light hearted, romantic comedy set in some Irish suburb. There is absolutely nothing amazing about this movie. It's worth watching because it is very funny and then you'll probably forget about it.

hey, i didn't mean "version" as in there is a spanish vanilla sky, and a hollywood version of it. or a norwegian insomnia, and a hollywood version of it. i didn't imply any collaboration or translation.

i just said they are very similar. IF there is any movie similar to crash, it is intermission, and vice versa. sure, crash seemed more serious, and intermission seemed more light hearted, but polar opposites? in what sense? it is like they were made by the same person, one for hollywood viewers (with more glitz, power, and glamour), and one for independent viewers, set in belfast, with no power or glitz.

and i wouldn't call it a romantic comedy per se. sure there was romance in it, but that was not the premise of the movie. many of the stories and scenes had nothing to do with romance. and i don't see how murder, robbery, and kidnapping fit into a romantic comedy. like i said, it is a twin of crash.

Sounds like a fair amount of romance involved right? It's a funny movie, hence my label, romantic comedy. That's my opinion, feel free to have a different one.

The majority of the events and storylines in the movie are triggered and revolve around the break-ups and make-ups in this movie. Sure its not glorified romance. In fact its downright cynical at times and thats what makes it funny.

Like I wrote earlier, I haven't seen Crash. I can't make a factual comment on it.

This is all besides the point anyway. You call this movie amazing. Why? Saying that it's similar to Crash is no way to gauge how amazing it is. If it's the gem of independant cinema you claim it is then back it up. What do you think is so new and groundbreaking about it that it deserved its own thread and everyone should go see it?
