what do you audiophiles think of this? i've wanted something basic like this at a good price for a while. this looks decent to me, worth it? i've got a $50 gift card, so it'll only be like 390 or something out of pocket.

Jensen makes very good high end head units. It is about the only thing the company does right. I would still say stick with pioneer but this is a good alternative.

for the record though- you are a fool if you buy this from circuit city. Sell the gift card on classifieds, get $40 and save yourself $100 on ebay.

suprisingly "BOSS" Makes some good in dash units as well

as does alpine

i've looked on ebay, and haven't seen any great savings over the stores?

it's actually a $100 card, i was mistaken.

i would prefer a higher end name also, but they're nearly double in price.

search man- and don't try the "search" by category function. Pioneer makes a few different models... find the model numbers and search those- guarantee you can get a great pioneer unit on ebay for the cost of a jensen or boss at CC

ok, those thinks are irrelevant.

the boss isn't a touch screen. the non touch screen jensen is that price at circuit city.

the alpine is used. not to mention it uses a seperate disc player, i don't have a foot of dash opening for all that.

i'll stand by i can't find a new unit for a much better price, if any better. i've been browsing ebay and the stores for something for months.

I put one of them in my Ranger. I like it, its a good unit, there is an easy fix to make it work all the time, no ebrake cutoff. ITs a good unit for the money, I think you can get it at Walmart now for 400.

word. what's the fix, just grounding a wire or giving it power or something? that's what my last ghetto fabulous pyle dvd unit was.

yep, wal mart does have it for just less than 400. don't know that it's worth it by the time i deal with selling my gift card though, might only save 10-20 bucks. i don't have anything else i need from circuit city.

the two i posted were just old links I have sent to a different user.

PM Str8BacardiL... He has a nice BOSS touchscreen, LCD, VGA, DVD, CD, MP3, etc.... a perk to it is also that it is all one unit. a lot of indash units have a seperate brain under the seat.

He only spent $400 on his and it is great...

this one? only touch screen i could find. the car it will currently be going in is double din, and i do think that looks cleaner than a flip out. i may easily have a regular din vehicle i want to put it in down the road though. decisions...

You cant just ground it. You have to hook it to a switch to trick this one. I can link you to another forum that found the "secret" screen that bypasses the ebrake sequence. Wish I had found it before I put the switch under my dash.

^yeah, i found the procedure last night.

i think i'm going to go with this boss instead: http://tinyurl.com/y29gvp

no seperate box to install, and it has all the features i want/need. reviews seem to be good for a low price brand. i can't imagine that i'll have a non double din vehicle that i'll want to put it in anytime soon. i don't plan on selling my corvette or f350 in the near future, and it'll be going in one of those two.

i'll just use my gift cards for something at a later date. maybe some new speakers, even though i already have some used ones i planned to use.

the only hangup is all the sites i've been to say it won't fit the vehicles i've inputed, even though they are both double din. depth may be the issue, but i even entered like 3-4 other various brand vehicles i could think of that have double din and all the sites said no fit for those too. they're probably just covering their ass just in case since it's somewhat of an unconventional double din having the screen for a face and a tilt option. guess i'll find out soon enough. i'm not scared to hack stuff out of the way if need be.

Well if the auction goes in $1 increments, what the hell was he thinking you were going to win the bid by?

^yeah, the dude was an idiot. long story. i don't care or do enough business on ebay to worry about getting it removed.

got the thing today. i am impressed, quality appears to be very nice for the money. right down to a nice user manual compared to the stapled together folded paper crap alot of companies give. they also included a free extended 3 year warranty in the box. it looks nice, has all the options i need, all the rca inputs/outputs for gps, camera, game system, front, rear, etc. etc....

i guess time will tell after the install, but so far i'm VERY pleased. so far it's turning out to be a hell of a bargain vs. the $800+ models.

i got a new headunit too, didnt need dvd/screen, but wanted all the mp3/wma stuff, ended up gettin one at wal-mart of all places for 75 bucks, plays mp3/wma, with aux in, usb in for flash drives/ipods, sd card reader, basically comparable to 250+ dollar jvc's, and same as^ quality seems to be solid wight down to a proper user manual
